Sri Lanka Scout Association

The Sri Lanka Scout Association (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ සංගමය; Tamil : இலங்கைச் சாரணர் சங்கம்), the national Scouting organization of Sri Lanka, was founded in 1912, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1953. The coeducational Sri Lanka Scout Association has 36,297 members as of 2011. [1]

Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association

The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA, Lanka Baladhakshika Samajaya) (In Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාළදක්ෂිකා සංගමය, in Tamil:இலங்கைப் மகளீர் சாரணர்க் கழகம்) is the national Guiding organization of Sri Lanka. It serves 37,057 members (as at 01/01/2007) (23,133 in 2003 and 16,656 in 1999). Founded in 1917, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1951.

The Sri Lanka Scout Association, is a Scouting organization in Sri Lanka operated by the Ceylon Scout Council. The Ceylon Scout Council is a corporation formed by Act No 13 of 1957. The association became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1953. The coeducational Sri Lanka Scout Association has 33,709 members as of 2014. in 2016 the year that the National Organisation reached 104 years the Scouting Population in Sri Lanka had increased to 55,078 the growth taking place against the year 2015 was 29% which was a great achievement by the SLSA.

Sri Lankan Chetties also known as Colombo Chetties, is an ethnicity in the island of Sri Lanka. Formerly considered a Sri Lankan Tamil caste, were classified as a separate ethnic group in the 2001 census. They were a class of Tamil speaking Hindu Vaishyas, who migrated from the South India under Portuguese rule.

<i>Crocidura hikmiya</i> Species of mammal

Crocidura hikmiya is a species of shrew described from the rainforests of Sri Lanka, based on both morphological and molecular data. Its closest sister species is the Sri Lankan long-tailed shrew, another Sri Lankan crocidurine shrew restricted to the high-elevation habitats of the Central Highlands. C. hikmiya has a shorter tail than the Sri Lankan long-tailed shrew. Most of the other characteristics that distinguish the two species are osteological natured .

The Auditor General of Sri Lanka is appointed by the President to aid accountability by conducting independent audits of government operations. These audits provide members of Parliament with objective information to help them examine the government's activities and hold it to account. According to the constitution, the Auditor General is empowered to audit the accounts of all departments of Government, the Offices of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Judicial Service Commission, the Public Service Commission, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, the Secretary-General of Parliament and the Commissioner of Elections, local authorities, public corporations and business or other undertakings vested in the Government under any written law.

Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka

The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) is the lead agency in Sri Lanka for implementation of information and communications technology (ICT) initiatives by the Government of Sri Lanka. It was established to develop the economy of Sri Lanka through ICT. To this end, it works to improve both the technological capacity of the country, such as building infrastructure, and the readiness of its people, through education and human resources. It is also active in developing regulations around the use of technology and disseminating information worldwide about Sri Lankan ICT. Its current Chairman is Prof. Lalith Gamage.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration is a research and training institute focusing on public policy and public administration in Sri Lanka. It is operated as a government-operated company through the Ministry of Public Administration and Management and is located in Colombo.

The Uththama Pooja Pranama Padakkama is the medal presented to the next of kin of all servicepersons of the military and police of Sri Lanka in recognition of a serviceperson's death in the line of duty. It is awarded to the families of personnel confirmed killed in action or missing in action.

Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society is a non-governmental organization involved in donating human eyes and tissues for transplantation. It serves patients in need both in Sri Lanka and around the world. The society is a non-profit organization and provides the tissues free of charge, except for a small fee on processing and delivery.

The Sri Lanka Gazette, officially The Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is a public journal of the Government of Sri Lanka. It prints certain statutory notices from the government. Modeled after the Oxford Gazette, the Sri Lanka Gazette is the oldest surviving newspaper in Sri Lanka, having been published continuously since 1802. Unlike other newspapers, it does not cover general news or have a large circulation. It is printed by the Department of Government Printing.

The Sri Lanka Thilaka is a non-titular national honour of Sri Lanka awarded "for service to the nation". Sri Lanka Thilaka ranks lower than Kala Suri.

The Sri Lanka Rathna is a national honour of Sri Lanka for foreigners or non nationals, awarded "for exceptional and outstanding service to the nation". It comprises a citation and a gold medal studded with nine "navaratnas" with a Manel symbol.

She is a Senior TED Fellow and was chosen for a BBC 100 Women award in 2018. She is a National Geographic 2016 Emerging Explorer Grantee.
