International Scouting units in the Republic of China

The Republic of China also has active expatriate Scout groups, including two organizations focused on serving children of American military families living in Taiwan Area and elsewhere in eastern Asia and the western Pacific: USA Girl Scouts Overseas, and Boy Scouts of America, serviced by the Taiwan District of the Far East Council. [1] These councils serve BSA and GSUSA units composed of children of diplomatic, business and military personnel, and international units run under their auspices.

First World Jamboree for Ethnic Chinese Scouts

The First World Jamboree for Ethnic Chinese Scouts (第1次全球華人大露營), to promote cooperation and friendship among ethnic Chinese Scouts and strengthening of the World Scout Movement, was held 3 – 9 July 2009 at Wusanto Reservoir, Tainan, southern Taiwan. [2] [3]

Scout training was first introduced in Hong Kong in 1909 and 1910 by the Protestant based Boys' Brigade, Chums Scout Patrols and British Boy Scouts. The Catholic St. Joseph's College, formed its Boy Scout Troop in 1913, and registered with the Boy Scouts Association of the United Kingdom in 1914. The Boy Scouts Association formed its Hong Kong Local Association in July 1915 which became its Hong Kong Branch. After changes to the name of the United Kingdom organisation in 1967, the branch name was changed to The Scout Association Hong Kong Branch. In 1977, The Scout Association of Hong Kong was constituted as an autonomous association and successor to The Scout Association's Hong Kong Branch and became the 111th member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 1977.

The Scouts of China or the General Association of the Scouts of China (Taiwan) in full, is the national Scouting association of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and represents the Scouting organization in Taiwan. It is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. In 2011, the Scouts of China had 49,457 members.

China, as the Republic of China, attended the Summer Olympic Games for the first time at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Far Eastern Games Chinese Competition Committee sent 4 tennis players, Khoo Hooi-Hye, Ng Sze-Kwang, Wei Wing-Lock, and Wu Sze-Cheung to sign up for the tennis competition, with Wei Wing-Lock being the team's captain. The delegation even attended the opening ceremony, but later withdrew from the tennis competition. Nevertheless, this is the first appearance of Chinese people at an Olympic venue.

Lin Mei-hsiu is a Taiwanese actress and television host. She strived with her perseverance and later produced signature works and become well-known in Taiwan. Lin has starred in various genres of works in her career, including stage shows, TV series, and movies, being acquainted with Taiwanese by her activity in the drama field. Due to her excellent acting skills, Lin has also received prestigious awards including the Golden Horse Award and the Golden Bell Award.

Huang Jong-tsun is a Taiwanese politician and psychologist who serves as the current President of the Examination Yuan. Prior to assuming his current role, Huang had served as President of China Medical University from 2005 to 2014 and Minister of Education from 2002 and 2004. Hakka popular music is a genre of popular music composed and performed in the Hakka language, also known as modern Hakka music. It is mainly prevalent in Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Guangdong, with Taiwanese Hakka popular music being the most vibrant and developed.
