Sean Martin Howard AO is an Australian entrepreneur, founder of OzEmail, at one time Australia's largest Internet company.

In the 1980s Howard developed the email service, Microtex. He also founded Australian Personal Computer , Australia's top-selling computer magazine. In 1988 he became an original investor in ISYS Search Software, one of the pioneer search engine products. In 1992 he sold his publications business to Australian Consolidated Press but retained Microtex. Microtex then became Oz-E-Mail. [3] In 1994 businessmen Malcolm Turnbull and Trevor Kennedy invested and the business was relaunched as OzEmail, with range of Internet services. In 1996 OzEmail was listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. In 1997 OzEmail phone was launched and in 1998 the company was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. [3]

In December 1998 American telco WorldCom took a 14.9% stake in OzEmail and in March 1999 WorldCom completed the acquisition for a total of $520 million. [4] In July 2002 WorldCom declared bankruptcy and sold the Australian ISP business to iiNet in 2005 for $110 million. [5]

In 2000 Howard joined the board of the telco Optus as a non-executive director. [6] He was a director of the WebCentral Group, a web and application hosting company when it was taken over by Melbourne IT in 2006. [7]

At the 2015 Australia Day Honours, Howard was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to a range of charitable organisations, particularly youth welfare and medical research, as a major benefactor and supporter, and to business. [8]

The company provides ADSL-based Internet access, using their own ADSL2+ infrastructure and reselling Telstra ADSL services, as well as reselling the NBN. iiNet also provides optical-fibre, dial-up, and voice services.

Webcentral Group

Webcentral Group, formerly known as Melbourne IT Group, is an Australian digital services provider. It is a publicly traded company that was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in December 1999. It provides internet domain registration, email and office applications, cloud hosting, security and risk, and digital marketing. Founded in 1996, it was the first Australian domain name registrar.

OzEmail

OzEmail was a major Internet service provider (ISP) in Australia, until it was acquired by iiNet on 28 February 2005.

Eftel

Eftel Limited is an internet service provider and telecommunications provider in Australia, with approximately 120,000 active accounts. It was established in 1999. Eftel offers a range of services including: DSL and dial-up Internet access, web hosting and telephony services - to the retail, corporate and wholesale telecommunications markets.

Sausage Software was an Australian software company, founded by entrepreneur Steve Outtrim, which produced one of the world's most successful web editors: the HotDog web authoring tool. The product and company name have since been purchased by an Australian consulting firm, SMS Management & Technology.

SLI Systems

He has also founded software company Urbanise and environment solutions company ekoLiving and is the former owner of nutraceutical company Aussie Bodies. He is the editor and main writer of Burners.me, a website that discusses Burning Man culture.

Peter Fritz

Peter Adalbert Robert George Fritz is an Australian businessman and philanthropist. He was born in Arad, Romania and migrated to Australia in 1962. He has been Group managing director of the TCG Group of Companies since 1971 and Chairman of institute for active policy Global Access Partners since 1997.

ClubTelco is an Australian Telecommunications and Internet Service Provider founded in 2010, that provides telecommunications services to consumers and small businesses around Australia. Competing with the likes of Telstra, Optus, iiNet, Dodo and Internode. ClubTelco's is owned by Vocus Group, a publicly listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange. It serves over 120,000 customers.

Jeremy Howard (entrepreneur)

Jeremy Howard is an Australian data scientist and entrepreneur. He began his career in management consulting, at McKinsey & Company and AT Kearney. Howard went on to co-found FastMail in 1999 and Optimal Decisions Group. He later joined Kaggle, an online community for data scientists, as President and Chief Scientist.
