Seaside, a studio album by the English jazz pianist and vocalist Liane Carroll. It was released on 18 September 2015 on Linn Records. [4] Joe Stilgoe wrote the title track. [4] [5]
Reviewing the album for the Scottish national newspaper The Herald , Keith Bruce described it as "not only Carroll's best disc, but one of the finest non-classical releases in the Linn catalogue". [6] Jim Burlong, writing for Jazz Views, said: "This is a wonderful album by one of our greatest jazz talents so full of quality and diversity. I doubt if there will be a better vocal based recording issued anywhere this year." [7] Dave Gelly, who gave the album four stars in his review for The Observer , described the title track as "a haunting piece, beautifully arranged, which brings out her extraordinary ability to absorb the essence of a song and deliver it with such candour that you scarcely notice the artistry involved". [2] John Fordham, in a four-star review for The Guardian , described Seaside as "casually expressive, unblinkingly honest, and often charmingly autobiographical" and said that only "the superb British standards-and-ballads singer Liane Carroll" could make an album like this one. [1] In a four-star review for Mojo , Fred Dellar described it as "jazz of the highest quality". [3] Peter Quinn, for Jazzwise , said: "Liane Carroll has that rare ability to meld effortless, often transcendent vocal and piano technique, with heart stopping emotion and soul bearing power. It should be no surprise then that her latest album, Seaside, combines all this with a savvy sophistication befitting of one of Britain’s finest jazz singers". [8] Writing also on The Arts Desk website, Quinn described Carroll's album as one of 2015's "outstanding vocal jazz releases... a sublime 10-track love letter to her home town of Hastings". [9] According to John Marley of Yorkshire daily newspaper The Press, it was the best 2015 vocal jazz album. [10]

Malcolm Edmonstone is a British jazz pianist and pop arranger. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he became Head of Jazz. Edmonstone provided orchestral arrangements for Gary Barlow’s 2020 album Music Played by Humans. He has conducted and arranged for the BBC Concert Orchestra numerous times for BBC Radio 2, featuring vocalists Rick Astley, Katie Melua, Mark King, Ruby Turner, Tommy Blaize, Tony Momrelle and Heather Small. In 2020 he was Music Director at the National Theatre for Tony Kushner’s adaptation of The Visit (play). In 2016 he made his BBC Proms debut, arranging and conducting for Iain Ballamy and Liane Carroll.

Blue Gardenia is the twenty-fifth studio album by Etta James, released through the record label Private Music. It was produced by John Snyder, who had worked with James on five of her previous studio albums. Blue Gardenia contains thirteen jazz standards from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. All of the standards were arranged by pianist Cedar Walton, with the exception of "Love Letters", which was arranged by Josh Sklair. Between November 2000 and February 2001, Snyder and Walton assembled musicians to record tracks while James was recovering from a flu; her vocals were added following her recovery. In addition to Walton, artists appearing on the album included Red Holloway on tenor saxophone and Dorothy Hawkins, James' mother, who provided vocals on the title track. Hawkins died in May 2002, less than a year after the album's release.
Up and Down is a studio album by English jazz pianist/vocalist Liane Carroll. Released in June 2011, and launched on 27 June at the Hideaway jazz club in Streatham, south London, it was the winner in the Jazz Album of the Year category at the 2012 Parliamentary Jazz Awards in May 2012. The album entered iTunes's jazz charts at no. 8 and reached the no. 1 spot in its first week of release. It received a four-starred review in The Guardian and a 4.5-starred review from All About Jazz.
Live at the Lampie is a live album of jazz standards by English jazz vocalist Liane Carroll and Scottish jazz pianist Brian Kellock. Produced by Neal Richardson, it was recorded at two gigs at the Blue Lamp pub in Aberdeen in October 2008 and released by Splash Point Records on 11 May 2009. It received four-starred reviews in The Guardian and Jazzwise and was funded and made possible by Creative Scotland. Funding application and subsequent tour management and recording by Thick Skinned Productions team, including Cathie Rae and Dave Gray.

Canniere has toured throughout the United States and Europe, performing at Carnegie Hall, Birdland, the London Jazz Festival, the Hague Jazz Festival and the Rochester International Jazz Festival, among others.

The Unity Sessions is an album by American jazz guitarist Pat Metheny and his Unity Band: saxophonist Chris Potter, bassist Ben Williams, keyboardist Giulio Carmassi and drummer Antonio Sánchez. A live album in a studio setting, it was recorded with a camera crew in a black box theatre without an audience. The recording was released on DVD and Blu-Ray disc in 2015, then as a double CD in 2016.

This was Rendell's final recording under the Lansdowne banner before moving to Spotlite Records. Space Walk continued Rendell's exploration of modern modal jazz and displayed the enduring influence of John Coltrane on Rendell's composition and playing.
