Sebastian Bieniek (born 24 April 1975) is a Polish-German artist. [1]

Early life and education

Bieniek was born in Czarnowąsy, Upper Silesia/Poland, and until the age of 14 he grew up in the Upper Silesian village of Kup. In 1989 he left Poland as a late repatriate.[ citation needed ]

In 2001 he got a grand (residency) of the DFJW in Rennes/France where he spent a half year and took part in a group exhibition called "Aux voyageurs", [2] curated by Bettina Klein. In the same year he graduated at the UdK Berlin.

In 2002 he started to study movie directing at the DFFB Berlin, where he made several movies. His 2007 made full-length movie "The Gamblers" was part of the official competition of the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival. [3] His 2008 made movie "Silvester Home Run" [4] was part of the international short-film competition of the Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata [5] and also shown at the Montreal World Film Festival.

The Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin is a film school in Berlin, Germany.

2007 Shanghai International Film Festival

The 2007 Shanghai International Film Festival was the 10th such festival devoted to international cinema to be held in the city of Shanghai in the People's Republic of China. It was held from June 16 to June 24, 2007. It was one of twelve film festivals to be accredited in 2007 by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF).

2012 he made a performance the Art Market Budapest Art Fair, 2013 at the Deutsche Bank KunstHalle and 2016 at the University Church Marburg [6] .

In 2011 he wrote the book REALFAKE ( ISBN   978-3-942835-35-0), in which he analyzed group formation and behavior in the social media and supplemented it by his own experiences, experimental arrangements and thoughts.

Between 2002 and 2017 Bieniek made following movies: "The Gamblers" (2007, 87 min.), "Nothing with shoes" (documentary, 2002), "Sand" (2003), " Silvester Home Run" (2005), "Sugar" (orig. "Zucker", 2005), "Anamnesie" (2003), "Entschuldigung Laterne" (2003) and "Zero" (2002).[ citation needed ]

Collaborations

In 2013 Bieniek collaborated with the German INTRO music magazine for a photo shoot. [7] In 2015 he made a photo shoot for the Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazine. [8] In 2015 he collaborated with the French fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus at the Paris Fashion Week. [9] In 2016 he cooperated with the "Institute for church building and contemporary art" at the University of Marburg when being a part of the Liturgy Specific Art art-performance serial. [10] In 2016 he also cooperated with the director and Head Curator of the MONA Museum (Australia), Olivier Varenne for his online exhibition project at collectionair.com. [11]

Exhibitions

In 1999 Sebastian Bieniek had his first solo exhibition, named "Natural Born Sugareaters", in the Kunsthaus Tacheles (Berlin).[ citation needed ] In 2000 he participated in the "Festival of Vision"[ citation needed ] exhibition in the Hong Kong Arts Centre (Hong Kong), and in 2002 he participated in the HICETNUNC exhibition in the Villa Manin (Italy).[ citation needed ] In 2014 he had a solo exhibition in the Nicola von Senger Gallery [12] (Zürich) and the Ho Gallery in Vienna.[ citation needed ] In 2016 he had a solo exhibition in the Potemka Contemporary Art Gallery (Leipzig) called "The Imitation of the Imitation", [13] the Fotogalerie Friedrichshain called "The Melancholy of the Elephants" [14] and the "Views" [15] group show by the Bahrain Arts Society in Manama (Bahrain).

Influence

In 2017-2018 the Italian dancers Federica Aloisio and Sabrina Vicari created a dance-show called EIOKA inspired by Bieniek's artwork which was shown across Italy and became the winner of the Premio Strabismi 2017 [16] .

In 2015–2016 fashion designers Simon Porte Jaquemus, Cecilia Devana and Inês Marques said that their work drew some of its inspiration from Bieniek's work. [17] [18] [19]

In 2014 several publications wrote that a scene in the "Marilyn Monroe" video of Pharrell Williams is inspired by Bieniek's artwork. [20] [21] [22]

Eat Me, Drink Me is the sixth studio album by American rock band Marilyn Manson, released on June 5, 2007 by Interscope Records. It was recorded in a rented home studio in Hollywood by lead vocalist Marilyn Manson and guitarist and bassist Tim Sköld, and was produced by Manson and Sköld. It was the band's first album not to be recorded as a five-piece, as John 5 departed from the group in 2004. Instead of replacing 5, Tim Sköld remained with bass and played guitar, and the band continued as a four-piece. Manson has stated that he sang most of the album lying down on the studio floor with his hands cupping the studio microphone, resulting in a very distinctive vocal sound.
