Sebastian Thomson is a Grammy-nominated musician based in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently the drummer for Baroness, Trans Am, and solo act Publicist.
Thomson was born in Chaco, Argentina and spent his formative years in Argentina, Brazil, Holland, France and the United States. [1] He is left-handed. He got his start drumming while attending St. Andrew's Scots School [2] [3] in Argentina. Thomson attended Bard College and was pursuing a PhD in physics at the University of Maryland when he decided to focus on music full time. [4]
Thomson's drumming career began in Washington, DC with the post-rock band Trans Am, formed with childhood friends Philip Manley and Nathan Means while the three were attending college. Trans Am continues to produce music although the members reside in separate cities. [3] [5]
More recently, Thomson is known for being the drummer of the heavy metal band Baroness. He joined the band in 2013 following a bus accident that resulted in the band's original drummer retiring. [6] The first Baroness album featuring Thomson on drums was Purple , released in December 2015. The album's song "Shock Me" earned Thomson and his bandmates a nomination at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. [7] Thomson's second studio album with Baroness is Gold & Grey , released in June 2019. [8] His third album with the band, Stone , was released in September 2023.
Additionally, Thomson maintains an active solo act, Publicist, in which he mixes live drumming with recorded tracks inspired by rock, acid house, electronic music and Detroit techno. When performing as Publicist, Thomson plays his drum kit in the middle of the dance floor, incorporating a synthesizer and vocoder. [1] [9]

Thomson's US national television debut took place May 20–23, 2019, when he served as the guest drummer for The 8G Band on Late Night with Seth Meyers . [12]

Purple is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Baroness. It was released on December 18, 2015, through the band's newly founded record label Abraxan Hymns. The album is the first from Baroness following their 2012 bus accident and the first to feature members Nick Jost and Sebastian Thomson. Purple is the last album to feature Pete Adams before his departure from the band in 2017.
The discography of American heavy metal band Baroness consists of six studio albums, one compilation album, four extended plays (EPs), thirteen singles, two splits, and twelve music videos. Formed in Savannah, Georgia in 2003, the group was originally composed of vocalist and guitarist John Baizley, guitarist Tim Loose, bassist Summer Welch and drummer Allen Blickle. Signed to Hyperrealist Records, the band released their first two EPs, titled First and Second, in 2004 and 2005, respectively. The split album A Grey Sigh in a Flower Husk – featuring two tracks by Baroness and four by fellow Savannah-based band Unpersons – was released in June 2007. After Loose was replaced by guitarist Brian Blickle, the band released its debut full-length studio album, Red Album, through Relapse Records in September 2007.
Mark Feldman is an American drummer, drum educator, entrepreneur, and former music executive from Manhattan, New York. He is currently the drummer and leader of the four-piece band called Mark Feldman's Level5. The band released its debut EP, The Sybil EP, in February 2019 on Mutant Cat Records. Feldman is also the founder of the Manhattan-based BANG! The Drum School. He was formerly a marketing executive for the Sony Music imprints, Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings.
