Although Security Screenings is actually as long as a proper LP, it is described as being an EP by the artist. It is not considered to be a follow-up to the 2005 album, Surrounded by Silence .
The original cover art displayed the artist's name as "Prefuse LXIII", which means "Prefuse 63". This was corrected in later printings.

Scott Herren is a producer who has been based in Atlanta, Barcelona and New York City. Herren releases music under the aliases Prefuse 73, Delarosa & Asora, Ahmad Szabo, and Piano Overlord, and is also part of the groups Savath y Savalas, Sons of the Morning, Fudge, Risil, and Diamond Watch Wrists.
Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives is a 2001 studio album by Guillermo Scott Herren, the first released under the name Prefuse 73. The album was released on June 11, 2001 on Warp. The music was created by Herren alone, with some tracks featuring guest vocals from MCs Mikah 9, MF Doom and Aesop Rock as well as vocalist Sam Prekop from The Sea and Cake. Inspired by Miami bass and early 90s hip hop, Herren had been recording music with his Music Production Center (MPC) for Schematic Records, a label known primarily for intelligent dance music (IDM). After working with various local hip hop artists making what he described as "very boring rap beats", Herren was inspired to take his music in a more left-field direction.

Prefuse 73's third studio album, Surrounded by Silence, includes "Pagina Dos" from the EP, as well as many other collaborations with artists other than The Books. Eliot Lipp is an American electronic music artist and DJ based in Austin, Texas. His work was picked up by Scott Herren of Prefuse 73 after Herren heard him working the club circuit. In 2004, Lipp released his first studio album, S/T, with Eastern Developments Music, a label owned by Warp Records.

School of Seven Bells was an American indie rock band from New York City, formed in 2007. It originally consisted of Alejandra Deheza, her sister Claudia Deheza and Benjamin Curtis. Claudia left the group in 2010, and Curtis died of lymphoma in 2013. Using demos of songs Curtis had written prior to and during his illness, the band's fourth and final album, SVIIB, was completed posthumously and released in February 2016.

The Flaming Lips with Prefuse 73 is a four-track collaboration EP with Guillermo Scott Herren pressed on randomly colored 12" vinyls so that no two look alike. Limited to 1000-2000 copies, it was self-produced, self-released, and only sold at select record stores. Some copies were hand assembled and autographed by vocalist Wayne Coyne. The song "Supermoon Made Me Want to Pee" was later released on The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends.

Sam Dew is an American singer-songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for writing the hook to the track "LoveHate Thing," a single from Wale's 2013 album The Gifted. Dew is also credited for writing and performing on additional tracks for the same album, which peaked at #1 on various Billboard charts. He has also co-written for musicians Marsha Ambrosius, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Mary J. Blige, and Jessie Ware. Dew is currently signed to RCA Records and released his debut EP Damn Sue on April 7, 2015.
Rivington Não Rio is a studio album by American producer Guillermo Scott Herren under his alias of Prefuse 73, released by Temporary Residence Limited in 2015. Rivington Não Rio was Herren's first album since 2011's The Only She Chapters, after which he was told by his label that they would not be accepting more material from him. After the release, he spent his time away from music and then later collaborating with other artists and attempting to start a new label called Yellow Year.
