The FINA World Championships or World Aquatics Championships are the World Championships for aquatics sports: swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, artistic swimming, and water polo. They are run by FINA, and all swimming events are contested in a long course (50-metre) pool.
The 2023 World Aquatics Championships, the 20th edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships, will be held in Fukuoka, Japan, in July 2023. Originally scheduled to be held in 2021, the championships were pushed back one year to be held from 13-29 May 2022 in response to the rescheduling of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo to 2021, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was then postponed a second time to year 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation like travel restrictions and the measures currently in place in Japan. In its place, Budapest will host the 19th Championships from 18 June - 3 July 2022.
