She is a snake-like alien who was later altered by "Hypertaxis energy" into a semi-humanoid shape, retaining her serpent tail but gaining a humanoid upper body.

Fictional character biography

Jeka Wynzorr is the princess of the planet Orando, a world populated by a ruling class of snake-like aliens and an underclass resembling raccoons. She renounces her position to travel the galaxy and initially uses her illusion-casting abilities to disguise herself as a human. [1] [2] [3] [4] Jeka joins the Legion of Super-Heroes as Sensor and obtains cybernetic arms, which she is rarely seen without. [5] [6]

While battling the Terrorforms on Xanthu, Sensor is exposed to Hypertaxis energy, which causes her to mutate uncontrollably until Ra's al Ghul stabilizes her into a nāga-like form. [3] [4] [7] Sensor becomes reclusive and bitter following her transformation and goes into hiding until the rest of the Legion is enslaved by Universo, whose mind-controlling abilities she is immune to. Sensor and Shikari recruit Ferro and Karate Kid, who were stranded on the planet Steeple, to battle Universo. After Universo is defeated, Sensor co-nominates Dreamer for Legion membership. [8] [9]

Sensor in her original form makes minor appearances in Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds , where she is among the Legionnaires summoned to help fight the Time Trapper; and Action Comics (vol. 2), where she, Chameleon Boy, and Shrinking Violet unsuccessfully attempt to change the past. [10] [11] [12]

In other media

Sensor appears in Adventures in the DC Universe #10. [13]

[Princess Projectra] got turned into a snake with the same powers. This was REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAALLLLY controversial with fans of the hot platinum blonde chick. She wore a pair of cybernetic arms, and renounced her heritage as Princess of Orando to travel the stars. A bolt of "Hypertaxis" energy blasted her, and Ra's al Ghul transformed her into a humanoid anthro/snake thing. She remained in this form until the continuity rebooted itself.

[Projectra] had been reconceived as a giant snake with robot arms, princess of a planet where the snakes ruled and the raccoons were servants...Jeckie has the power to project illusions, amazingly comprehensive and realistic illusions. This is a very subtle superpower; it's tricky to use right. Most often, the Legion writers didn't have a handle on how to use illusions effectively, and they'd have her conjure up a big monster or something, and it wouldn't work very well.

Sensor was a giant snake with little robot T-Rex arms, so it didn't quite work for her. But it was well done, especially when it came to updating costumes that had been around since 1958.

The Reboot Legion expanded things a little -- you had Gates, who was a communist insect and Sensor who was a giant snake with robot arm -- which I thought was a pretty nice way of actually making them look like a team of aliens.
