Sergio Robles Valenzuela (born April 16,1946) is a Mexican former catcher in Major League Baseball from the northern Mexican town of Magdalena de Kino. He won five Mexican Pacific League championships over his 19 seasons with the Naranjeros de Hermosillo. [1] Later,He played in 16 games over three seasons (1972,1973,1976) for the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers. He had been acquired along with Doyle Alexander,Bob O'Brien and Royle Stillman by the Orioles from the Dodgers for Frank Robinson and Pete Richert at the Winter Meetings on December 2,1971. [2] In his native México he is known as Kaliman after a Mexican comic book hero. He was enshrined in his hometown of Magdalena by a statue that was unveiled in 2018 outside of the Estadio Padre Kino,a 3,000-seat baseball stadium that serves as the home of the amateur Membrilleros de Magdalena. Frank Robinson was an American professional baseball outfielder and manager in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for five teams over 21 seasons:the Cincinnati Reds (1956–1965),Baltimore Orioles (1966–1971),Los Angeles Dodgers (1972),California Angels (1973–1974),and Cleveland Indians (1974–1976). In 1975,Robinson became the first Black manager in big-league history,as the player-manager of the Indians.
Fernando Valenzuela Anguamea is a Mexican former professional baseball pitcher. Valenzuela played 17 Major League Baseball (MLB) seasons,from 1980 to 1991 and 1993 to 1997. While he played for six MLB teams,his longest tenure was with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Valenzuela batted and threw left-handed. His career highlights include a win-loss record of 173–153,with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.54. His 41.5 career wins above replacement is the highest of any Mexican-born MLB player. Valenzuela had an unorthodox windup and was one of a small number of pitchers who threw a screwball regularly. Never a particularly hard thrower,the Dodgers felt he needed another pitch;he was taught the screwball in 1979 by teammate Bobby Castillo.
Eddie Clarence Murray,nicknamed "Steady Eddie",is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) first baseman,designated hitter,and coach. Spending most of his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles,he ranks fourth in team history in both games played and hits. Though Murray never won a Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award,he finished in the top ten in MVP voting several times. He had 996 runs batted in in the 1980s,more than any other player. After his playing career,Murray coached for the Orioles,Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Dodgers.
