Seven Deadly Arts with Akshay Kumar is a seven-part television mini-series that aired on the National Geographic Channel in 2004. It was hosted by Akshay Kumar. [1] [2] [3] Kumar donated his time and talents to the show. [4]

Description

The series showcases the seven martial arts of kalaripayattu, Shaolin Kung Fu, karate, taekwondo, aikido, Muay Thai, capoeira and . [5] [6] Kumar, who began learning martial arts at age 9, [4] played the master for taekwondo, karate, and Muay Thai, and played the student of the other forms of martial arts from different trainers. [7] The series' tagline was "The first thing you learn to kill is your ego". [8] [9] Kumar shared his personal beliefs about martial arts and talked about the benefits it brought to him. [10]

Broadcast

National Geographic Channel announced the series' launch on 27 April 2004. [11] The first part was aired on Sunday, 9 May 2004 at 8:00 p.m. The rest of the parts were aired on the following Sundays. [12] Before the series was launched, National Geographic Channel had planned to broadcast the series' second part in October–November 2004. [13]

Cast

Production

Kumar and his personal trainer, Mehul Vora, wrote the script. [14] Vora also choreographed the mini-series. [15] The series was shot in Manali, Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai in a span of 40 days. The series marked Kumar's television debut. [16] [17]

During the series, Kanishka Sharma taught Shaolin Kung fu to Kumar. [18] Sifu Kaniska Sharma is the first Indian to be trained in Shaolin Temple Secular Discipline Union in China. [19] Yogesh Sahu directed the series. Puran Chauhan also trained Kumar. After the series, Chauhan worked as a stunt director in several Hindi films. [20]

Shaolin kung fu, also called Shaolin Wushu, or Shaolin quan, is one of the oldest, largest, and most famous styles of wushu, or kung fu of Chan Buddhism. It combines Chan philosophy and martial arts. This term is often informally transliterated as "kempo", as a result of applying Traditional Hepburn romanization, but failing to use a macron to indicate the long vowel. The word Kenpō translates thus: "Ken" meaning 'Fist' and "Po" meaning 'Method' or 'Law' as in 'Law of gravity', a correct interpretation of the word Kenpō would be 'Fist Method', the same meaning as 'Quanfa'. However, it is often misinterpreted as 'the Law of the Fist'. Born and raised in London, England, Daniels started to take martial arts lessons at the age of eight. By his late teens, he became a competitive kickboxer. In 1980, Daniels moved to the United States to continue the sport. In 1990, he won the WKBA California State Light Heavyweight Championship and the PKA World Light Heavyweight Championship.

Special 26 is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language period heist thriller film written and directed by Neeraj Pandey. Based on the 1987 Opera House heist, the plot follows a team of criminals, who pose as CBI officers and conduct raids, robbing politicians and businessmen of their black money. Snake kung fu is a Shaolin boxing style, one of several Chinese martial arts known as "snake boxing" or "fanged snake style" that imitate the movements of snakes. Proponents claim that adopting the fluidity of snakes allows them to entwine with their opponents in defense and strike them from angles they would not expect in offense. Snake style is said to especially lend itself to applications with the Chinese straight sword. The snake is also one of the animals imitated in Yang-style tai chi, Baguazhang and Xingyiquan. The sinuous, fluid motion of the snake lends itself to the practical theory that underlies the "soft" martial arts.

The Kapil Sharma Show, also known as TKSS, is an Indian Hindi language stand-up comedy and talk show broadcast by Sony Entertainment Television. Hosted by Kapil Sharma, the first season of the show premiered on 23 April 2016. The series revolved around Sharma and his neighbours in the Shantivan Non Co-operative Housing Society. The filming of the show took place at Film City situated in Goregaon East, Mumbai. This show is based on a complete Warrior theme, as its setup is an ancient Martial Arts Dojo, where 16 elite fighters and athletes selected from across India will demonstrate their skills to prove that they are the ultimate warrior. All participants will go through a variety of challenges to prove their skills.
