Shafiqul Alam is a Bangladeshi journalist who currently serves as the press secretary to the chief adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh,Muhammad Yunus. He was appointed to this position in August 2024. [1] [2] [3]
Shafiqul Alam completed his secondary education at Dhaka's Motijheel Government Boys' High School and his higher secondary education at Notre Dame College. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Dhaka. [1] [4]
Shafiqul Alam began his career in the field of sports journalism,where he spent seven and a half years working with The Bangladesh Observer . He then transitioned to business journalism,joining The Financial Express for two and a half years. On January 14,2005,he joined Agence France-Presse (AFP) as a correspondent. During his two-decade tenure at AFP,he served as a correspondent for the first seven years before being promoted to the position of bureau chief for Bangladesh in 2012,a role he held until his appointment as press secretary. In August 2024,Shafiqul Alam was appointed as the press secretary to the chief adviser of Bangladesh,Muhammad Yunus. His appointment was confirmed through a gazette notification by the Ministry of Public Administration. The role carries the status of a secretary,and Shafiqul Alam will receive a monthly salary of 78,000 BDT along with other government benefits. His tenure is expected to last for the duration of the chief adviser's term or as long as he satisfies the requirements of the role. [4] [6]
Muhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi economist,entrepreneur,politician,and civil society leader,who has been serving as Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh since 8 August 2024. Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for founding the Grameen Bank and pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance. Yunus has received several other national and international honors,including the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2010.

He serves as a columnist for four national newspapers and has authored over two hundred research articles in a range of journals,including The Muslim World League Journal. He has published 20 books and was a key figure in editing volumes 3 to 9 of the second edition of the Islami Bishwakosh and the Sirat Encyclopedia,both published by the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh.

He is a key coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Students Movement,which led the Student–People's uprising. Its the office of the Head of Government of Bangladesh during an interim or caretaker government. Its equivalent to the Prime Minister's Office during an elected government.
The 2024 Bangladesh Presidential resignation protests are an ongoing protest demanding President Mohammed Shahabuddin's resignation stem from his controversial remarks following the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The themes include misleading or exaggerated reports on the post-resignation violence against Bangladesh's Hindu community,discrediting the backgrounds or activities of the cabinet members of interim government of Bangladesh. Sensationalist media outlets,especially those closely associated with the ruling party in India,the Bharatiya Janata Party,attempted to portray the uprising as an Islamist-backed military takeover of the country purportedly orchestrated by India's rivals,Pakistan &China.
A. M. Anisuzzaman was a government secretary and member of the Shahabuddin Ahmed ministry in charge of the Ministry of Land and the Ministry of Agriculture. He was a special advisor for agriculture to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He was a former secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture.
