The Bangla Academy is the official regulatory body of the Bengali language in Bangladesh. It is an autonomous institution funded by the Government of Bangladesh that fosters the Bengali language,literature and culture,works to develop and implement national language policy and conducts original research in Bengali. Established in 1955,it is located in the Burdwan House in Shahbagh,Dhaka,within the grounds of the University of Dhaka and Suhrawardy Udyan. The Bangla Academy hosts the annual Ekushey Book Fair.

Mahbub Talukdar was a Bangladeshi poet,writer,civil servant,and one of the Election Commissioners of Bangladesh. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2012 for his contribution in juvenile literature. He was a Freedom Fighter and joined the exiled government in 1971.

Bangladesh election commission scandal of 2020 is the revelation of a series of corruption allegations,moral degradation of the commissioners and evidence of gross misconducts before and after the controversial 2018 Bangladeshi general election and 2019 Upazila polls in Bangladesh. Allegations included the misappropriation of around 20 million Bangladeshi taka for imaginary programs,embezzlement of 40.8 million BDT during the recruitment process of election commission staffs,purchasing the electronic voting machine at a higher price than the market rate,usage of extra cars by three election commissioners flouting rules and facilitating continuous and numerous election fraud by not investigating credible allegations of irregularities during the 11th Parliamentary Election and elections in Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporations,Khulna City Corporation,and Gazipur City Corporation.
The 2021 Chattogram City Corporation election was a local government election in the city of Chattogram,Bangladesh,held on 27 January 2021 to elect the Mayor of Chittagong and the Chittagong City Council. This election was marred by violence and it was not seen as a free,fair and credible election. Later in 2024,after ruling Awami League regime fell,vote rigging by Awami League was confirmed in this election.
Rezaul Karim Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the 6th mayor of Chattogram. He is also the joint general secretary of Chattogram Mahanagar Awami League. He was elected mayor in 2021 and removed in 2024 after a district court found evidence of election rigging.
