Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, songwriter, scholar, and academic. His breakthrough was his debut novel Nondito Noroke published in 1972. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books. He was one of the most popular authors and filmmakers in post-independence Bangladesh. Pakistani English newspaper Dawn referred to him as the cultural legend of Bangladesh.
Lalon, also known as Lalon Shah, Lalon Fakir, Shahji and titled Fakir, Shah, was a prominent Bengali spiritual leader, philosopher, mystic poet and social reformer born in Jhenaidah, Bengal Subah. Regarded as an icon of Bengali culture, he inspired and influenced many philosophers, poets and social thinkers including Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Allen Ginsberg. Lalon's philosophy of humanity rejects all distinctions of caste, class, and creed and takes stand against theological conflicts and racism. It denies all worldly affairs in search of the soul and embodied the socially transformative role of sub-continental Bhakti and Sufism.
Dilara Hanif Rita, known by her stage name Purnima, is a Bangladeshi film actress. Her notable films are Moner Majhe Tumi (2003), Megher Pore Megh (2004), Shuva (2005), Hridoyer Kotha (2006), Akash Chonya Valobasha (2008) etc. She won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress in 2010.
Moner Manush is a 2010 India-Bangladesh joint venture Bengali-language biographical musical drama film based on the life and philosophy of Lalon, a noted spiritual leader, poet and folk singer of Bengal in the 19th century. Directed by Goutam Ghose, who also wrote the screenplay, the film has Prosenjit as the lead actor portraying the character of Lalan Fakir. Paoli Dam plays the character of Komli, the key female disciple of Lalan. Moner Manush has been critically and commercially successful.
Kazi Sharmin Nahid Nupur, known by her stage name Shabnur, is a Bangladeshi film actress. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Dui Noyoner Alo (2005).
Asaduzzaman Mohammad Raisul Islam is a Bangladeshi freedom fighter and an actor in radio, theatre, television and film. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor four times for his roles in the films Padma Nadir Majhi (1992), Anya Jibon (1995), Dukhai (1997) and Lalsalu (2001). Besides, he won Best Supporting Actor award twice for the roles in Ghani: The Cycle (2006) and Mrittika Maya (2013). As of 2016, he acted in more than 50 films. He was a member of the Crack Platoon an elite urban guerrilla, intelligence and commando unit of the Mukti Bahini.
Arifa Pervin Zaman, known by her stage name Moushumi, is a Bangladeshi film actress and director. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress three times for her roles in Meghla Akash (2001), Devdas (2013) and Taarkata (2014). She has acted in over 150 films and made her directorial debut with Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti (2003).
Montazur Rahman Akbar is a Bangladeshi film director, screenwriter, producer, social activist and entrepreneur. He is known for his work in the Bengali-language film industry, which is centered in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Akbar also fought in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
Kazi Hayat is a Bangladeshi film director, producer, writer, and actor. In 2023 he performed in Priyotoma, which is the highest grossing Bangladesh film of all time.
Shahid Hasan, known by professionally as Misha Sawdagor, is a Bangladeshi film actor known for playing villains. As of 2020, according to him, he has performed in more than 700 films. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards 3 times for his roles in the films Boss Number One (2011), Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo (2014) and Bir (2020). He first got noticed as a villain in the 1995 film Asha Bhalobasha starring Salman Shah. After Shah's death, he continued playing the villain opposite other actors, but failed to achieve any mainstream success or recognition. From 2006 onwards he started playing the main antagonist in a long string of hit movies starring Shakib Khan in the lead role and mostly Apu Biswas as the lead actress, and established himself as a leading antagonist in the Cinema of Bangladesh.
Alauddin Ali was a Bangladeshi music composer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director eight times for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jogajog (1988) and Lakhe Ekta (1990). He won the Best Music Composer award for the film Laal Doriya (2002) and the Best Lyrics award for Premik (1985). Moreover, he won the Ifad Film Club Award and the Bachsas Award in the category of Best Music Director. He directed music for more than 300 films.
Oggatonama is a 2016 Bangladeshi drama film directed and written by Tauquir Ahmed. It was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film stars Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Mosharraf Karim, Nipun Akter, Shatabdi Wadud, and several others. Oggatonama was released on 19 August 2016 in Bangladesh by Impress Telefilm. It is about a Bangladeshi migrant who dies after illegally entering the United Arab Emirates with a fake passport. The Bangladesh police receive the wrong corpse.
Shammi Akhter was a Bangladeshi playback singer. She was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film Bhalobaslei Ghor Bandha Jay Na (2010).

He has been nominated for the Meril Prothom Alo Awards three times. Best known for his role in Hridoy Shudhu Tomar Jonno in 2004. Abdul Hye Mashreki was a Bangladeshi folk litterateur and poet. He is known for his writing in the 1930s and 1940s. He mainly focused the lifestyle of the rural people of Bengal. Moner Moto Manush Pailam Na is a 2019 Bangladeshi drama film written and directed by Jakir Hossain Raju. It featured Shakib Khan and Shabnom Bubly in the lead roles. Misha Sawdagor, Fakhrul Bashar Masum, Saberi Alam, Don and others played supporting roles. It was produced by Enamul Haque Arman under the banner of Desh Bangla Multimedia. The film soundtrack was composed by Shafiq Tuhin.

Kachher Manush is a 2022 Indian Bengali-language black comedy thriller drama film co-written and directed by Pathikrit Basu. It is produced by Dev under the banner of Dev Entertainment Ventures.
