Shailesh Shrestha is a Nepalese composer and record producer, [1] [2] known for his work in Nepalese films. [3] [4] Shailesh began his career as a jingle composer, primarily focusing on non-film materials such as albums. He made his debut as a film composer with "Aawaran," and his work gained recognition, particularly for his contributions to "Nepalese Dreams" and "Gajalu," leading to him receiving multiple awards, including the Kamana Film Awards. [5] , Dcine Awards [6] [7] [8] and the National Box Office Film Award in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Profession

Shailesh began his career in rap music under the stage name SPADIX in 2006.[ citation needed ] In 2008, he founded the crew 'Infernal Blaze' and began producing music for the group.[ citation needed ]

In 2012, Shailesh established his recording studio, RANGE STUDIO. Subash Koirala enlisted him to compose the score for the film "AAWARAN".[ citation needed ]

Shailesh created the soundtrack for the film "Jerry," directed by Hemraj BC.[ citation needed ]

He made his directorial debut in 2012 with the crime-thriller Loot and wrote screenplay for the film. The film focuses on Hakku Kale, who masterminds a bank robbery. The film received mixed reviews from the critics, some of whom criticized the script for not being original. According to The Kathmandu Post, the film "changed the discourse of the Nepali film industry". Loot earned 25.5 million Nepalese rupees, making it Nepal's highest-grossing film of 2012. Basnet went on to win the Dcine Award for Best Debut Director. In 2014, Basnet acted in and produced Ram Babu Gurung's romantic drama Kabaddi. In the film, Basnet plays Bibek, who tries to abduct a gangster's daughter. The same year, Basnet directed the dark comedy Talakjung vs Tulke. The film is set during the Nepalese Civil War, which lasted from 1996 to 2006. Basnet won the Film Critics Society of Nepal Award for Best Director and the National Film Award for Best Director. For the former film, she won NFDC National Film Awards 2015, 8th NEFTA Film Awards in 2015 And Dcine Awards 2015 in the category of 'The Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female)'.
