Career

Shaji Kumar began his career as a cinematographer for Malayalam films, He has frequently collaborated with leading Indian filmmakers like Shaji Kailas, Joshiy, Vinayan and Vysakh, before moving on to balance those commitments alongside Tamil films. In the Tamil film industry, Shaji has extensively collaborated with actor Prashanth for his films. Shaji received critical acclaim for his work in Ponnar Shankar (2011), while he also shot Mambattiyan (2011) and Saahasam (2016). [2] [3]

Prashanth Thiagarajan, known professionally as Prashanth, is an Indian actor and businessman, known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil films, he has also appeared in few Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam films. At the peak of his career in the late 1990s, Prashanth was one of the popular actors in South India. He has won a Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. The son of actor-director Thiagarajan, Prashanth began his career at 17 by appearing in Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990) and went on to feature in other films including Balu Mahendra's Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992), R. K. Selvamani's Chembaruthi (1992), K. Rushendra Reddy's Tholi Muddhu (1993), and Mani Ratnam's action-comedy Thiruda Thiruda (1993). Vijay Yesudas is an Indian playback singer and actor. He has sung over 1000 film songs. Vijay works predominantly in the South Indian film industry, mostly in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. He is the son of acclaimed singer K. J. Yesudas.

<i>Ponnar Shankar</i> (film) 2011 film by Thiagarajan

Ponnar Shankar is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language epic historical drama film produced and directed by Thiagarajan. It is a fictionalised account of the Ponnar Shankar epic, adapted from M. Karunanidhi's novel of the same name. It features Thiagarajan's son Prashanth in lead dual roles as warrior princes, portraying the title characters, with actresses Pooja Chopra and Divya Parameshwaran making their film debut as princesses and Prakash Raj as the main antagonist. The film also features an extensive cast of supporting actors with Prabhu, Jayaram, Khushbu Sundar, Sneha, Vijayakumar, Nassar, Rajkiran, Napoleon, and Ponvannan, amongst others. The background score and soundtrack of the film, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with cinematography handled by Shaji Kumar and editing done by Don Max.

Pulimurugan is a 2016 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Vysakh and produced by Tomichan Mulakuppadam through Mulakuppadam Films and was written by Udayakrishna—half of the duo Udayakrishna and Sibi K. Thomas—in his first independent screenplay. The film stars Mohanlal in the title role, with Jagapati Babu, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Lal, Vinu Mohan, Bala, Noby Marcose and Suraj Venjaramoodu in supporting roles. Nethraa is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language drama thriller film co-produced and directed by A. Venkatesh. The film features a cast including Vinay, Thaman Kumar and Subiksha in the lead roles and Cinematography is by A. Jeyaprakash. The music was composed by Srikanth Deva, with editing by N. Vinaj. The film, predominantly shot in Canada, began production during August 2016, was released on 9 February 2019. The film received highly negative reviews.
