Shalini Balasundaram is a Malaysian film director and actress. [1] [2] She is known for directing and acting as the main heroine in the Malaysia Tamil film industry. [3] She gained a breakthrough with her directorial debut Geethaiyin Raadhai and went on to direct and act in other films. [4] [5]
Shalini was born on 25 October 1993 in Selangor Malaysia to her parents Balasundaram and Indradevi. Shalini was only child to her parents. A very middle-class family background carried by Shalini where her parents runs a provision shop. She grew up in Kuala Lumpur with her parents. Shalini did her primary school studying in Methodist Girls School (MGS) and continues her secondary school studying in SMK Bukit Bandaraya. Her ambition to be a film maker has been since she was 15 years old. Shalini has watched so many movies of directors like K.Balachander, Balumahendra and Maniratnam during her childhood. Her dream of becoming a film maker became a decision in the age of 15. Completing a 4 years of foundation plus degree Shalini graduated from Limkokwing University in the year 2014.

Alai Payuthey, also spelt Alaipayuthey, is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language romantic musical film co-written, co-produced and directed by Mani Ratnam, starring R. Madhavan and Shalini. The film explores the tensions of married life between two young people who elope and the maturing of love among urban Indians who are conflicted between tradition and modernity. The score and soundtrack were composed by A. R. Rahman.
Shalini Ajith Kumar, known mononymously as Shalini is a former Indian actress and child artist who predominantly worked in Malayalam and Tamil films. During the 80s, Shalini was the most successful child artist in both Malayalam and Tamil film industry and also in Telugu films. After a brief hiatus from acting, Shalini made a come back in 1997 through Malayalam and Tamil language films as a lead heroine. She married popular Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, on 24 April 2000 and did one more film after her wedding before officially retiring from films.
Sachein is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by John, and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu. It is a remake of the director's 2002 Telugu film Neetho. The film stars Vijay in the title role along with Genelia and Bipasha Basu, while Vadivelu, Santhanam, and Raghuvaran play supporting roles. The film marked the Tamil film debut of Bipasha Basu. The score and soundtrack is composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Jeeva and V. T. Vijayan handled the cinematography and editing respectively.
M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language sports dramedy film directed by M. Raja, starring Jayam Ravi, Asin, Nadhiya, and Prakash Raj, while Vivek and Subbaraju play supporting roles. This marks the Tamil debut of Asin and the first of several Tamil films she has acted in. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Srikanth Deva. The film became a blockbuster and one of the most profitable movies of 2004. It is a remake of the Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. It was Nadhiya's comeback movie, after a 10 years of hiatus from the industry.
Kadhalukku Mariyadhai is a 1997 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic drama film directed by Fazil. It is the Tamil remake of his own Malayalam film Aniyathipraavu (1997). The film stars Vijay and Shalini, while Sivakumar, Srividya, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Manivannan, Dhamu, Charle, Thalaivaasal Vijay, and Radha Ravi play supporting roles. It tells the story of a couple of differing backgrounds and beliefs and how they unite amidst the opposition of their families. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja with cinematography by Anandakuttan.
Aaina (transl. Mirror) is a 1977 Indian Hindi-language drama film written and directed by K. Balachander. A remake of the Tamil film Arangetram (1973), it stars Mumtaz in the lead role with A. K. Hangal, Nirupa Roy, Lalita Pawar, Jayasudha and Madan Puri in supporting roles. This film has a special appearance by Rajesh Khanna. The film is about a brahmin girl becoming a sex worker to support her large family. After this film, Mumtaz did not feature in any films for thirteen years until Aandhiyan (1990).

She is probably best known for her performances as Saroja in the film of the same name, and Sobikannu in Pasanga. The film is produced by Sasikumar and music score is composed by James Vasanthan. They rose to fame after their 2008 hit film Subramaniyapuram. Bindu Madhavi is an Indian actress and model, who works in Tamil and Telugu films and television. The film, starring debutante child actors Nishesh and Vaishnavi in lead alongside Ramdoss, Vidya Pradeep, Karthik Kumar and Bindu Madhavi. This film is produced by Suriya, who also appears in a supporting character along with Amala Paul. The film will mark Pandiraj's last of the trilogy for children, following Pasanga and Marina.
