Md. Yusof bin Md. Haslam (born 24 April 1954)[ citation needed ] is a Malaysian actor, film director and producer. [1] He is best known for his longest-running police procedural drama series Gerak Khas , a TV series that he created, directed and produced. The latter spurring three feature films. The immense popularity of his films had led him to be nicknamed the "Six Million Dollar Man".
His legacy in entertainment showbiz is now carried by his two sons, Syamsul and Syafiq. Yusof also has his own television and film production company, Skop Productions, where he served as the managing director.
Yusof was born on 24 April 1954 in Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur to housewife Bahyah Talib and lorry driver Md. Haslam Khan.[ citation needed ] He is a fourth child from among seven siblings who together lived in a house in the squatter settlement. [2] He received his education at the SMK Aminuddin Baki in Kuala Lumpur.
He became enamoured with movies through his experiences seeing Hollywood westerns and Bollywood films—with the latter, he considered one of the stars Shashi Kapoor as his acting idol. Yusof thus decided that he would become an actor, much to objections by his father who believed that the entertainment scene held no future prospects. [2]
Yusof took up profession as a bus conductor, [3] but he also secretly attended acting auditions. He began his involvement in acting by playing an extra character in Laksamana Do Re Mi in 1972, as match spectators . It would only be until in 1975 that he would take a leading main role through the film Permintaan Terakhir. [2]
He began directing films in 1991 with Bayangan Maut, a mystery action thriller film starring rock singer Ella. This was later followed by Pemburu Bayang in 1993, Sembilu in 1994, best-selling blockbuster film, Maria Mariana in 1996 plus its sequel two years after among others.
Apart from film and television, he is also a managing director of his production company, Skop Productions which he had established since 1985. The company has four subsidiaries – Haslam Trading (restaurant), Haslam Properties (real estate and properties), Skop Publishing (print publications) and ME Communications (post-production facilities).
He was awarded the Ahli Mangku Negara in 1993 and the Panglima Jasa Negara in 2001, which carries the title of Dato', for his contributions to Malaysian cinema.
Yusof married twice. His first marriage was with Raja Noor Saadah Salehuddin in 1978 and divorced in 1980, they have no children.[ citation needed ] He later married Fatimah Ismail in 1982. They have four children namely Faizal, Syamsul, Shamin and Syafiq. Syamsul and Syafiq themselves are also actor and film directors.[ citation needed ]

Gerak Khas is a Malaysian police procedural television drama series broadcast on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and TV3. The series follows the crime-fighting efforts of the eponymous unit, led by SAC Datuk Helmi, from murders to the terrorism and many other crimes which committed in Malaysia. Gerak Khas, which ran from April 5, 1999, and ended on March 27, 2021, spanning 20 seasons and 1054 episodes, has become the longest-running primetime drama series on Malaysian television.
Evolusi KL Drift is a 2008 Malaysian Malay-language action film directed by Malaysian actor, Syamsul Yusof in his directorial debut, influenced by The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The film was released in Malaysia on 3 April 2008. A sequel, Evolusi KL Drift 2, was released in March 2010. The film was shot in various locations all over Malaysia, including Johor Bahru, Bukit Tinggi and Putrajaya.
Datin Lisa Surihani Mohamed, born 23 March 1986) is a Malaysian actress, model, television host and commercial model. Starting her entertainment career in 1997, at the age of 11, Lisa has appeared in numerous feature films and television shows as well as TV commercials. Malaysia Film Festival is an accolade bestowed by the Malaysian Entertainment Journalists Association of Malaysia for the appreciation and honouring the products of film arts and artists. KL Gangster 2 is a 2013 Malaysian Malay-language action thriller film, directed by Syamsul Yusof and starring Rosyam Nor, Aaron Aziz, Adi Putra, Soffi Jikan and Zizan Razak. It is the prequel to KL Gangster, which was released in 2011, it tells the story of two brothers, Jai and Malik.
Munafik is a 2016 Malaysian Malay-language supernatural horror film directed by Syamsul Yusof. It was his ninth film as well as his second horror film after Khurafat (2011) and also the first film in a planned Munafik trilogy. It stars Syamsul himself, Fizz Fairuz, Pekin Ibrahim and Nabila Huda. The film depicts Adam, a Muslim medical practitioner who is unable to continue with his job and accept the reality of his wife's death. After he meets Maria, unsettling things start to happen.
Mohd Shukri bin Yahaya is a Malaysian actor and director. Starting his acting career in 2011 after his talent was discovered by renowned film director Osman Ali through the film Jiwa Taiko. Abang Long Fadil 2 is a 2017 Malaysian Malay-language action comedy film written and directed by Syafiq Yusof. It is the sequel to KL Gangster’s 2014 film Abang Long Fadil also written and directed by Syafiq Yusof. The film stars Zizan Razak, Syamsul Yusof, AC Mizal, Tania Hudson, Wak Doyok, Achey Bocey, Shuib Sepahtu, A. Galak and Mas Khan. The Abang Long Fadil 2 divulges its titular character who is mistaken for a professional assassin named Tiger. He is unwillingly dragged into the underworld by mafia leader Taji Samprit and his son Wak Doyok. Tania plays Yana, Fadil's love interest and a broadcast journalist assigned to cover Tiger's case while Syamsul plays Inspector Wahab who is investigating the case.

Mohd Syafiq bin Mohd Yusof is a Malaysian filmmaker. He is a younger brother of actor Syamsul Yusof and son of veteran actor Yusof Haslam. Initially began his career by making short films, his directorial debut, SAM: Saya Amat Mencintaimu was released in 2012. Since then, he directed seven notable films which all of them became commercial success.
Abang Long Fadil is a 2014 Malaysian Malay-language action comedy film written and directed by Syafiq Yusof. It features an ensemble cast including Zizan Razak, Kamal Adli, Tauke Jambu, Soffi Jikan, Aaron Aziz, Yassin Yahya and the late Harun Salim Bachik. The film is the spin-off from 2011 film KL Gangster directed by Syafiq's older brother Syamsul Yusof and the first in Abang Long Fadil trilogy. The movie was released on May 29, 2014 and received positive reviews. Its sequels Abang Long Fadil 2 was released on August 24, 2017, followed by the third sequel, Abang Long Fadil 3 set to be released on September 8, 2022.
Mat Moto: Kami Mat Moto, Bukan Mat Rempit is a 2016 Malaysian Malay-language action adventure film co-directed by Pekin Ibrahim and Syafiq Yusof. The screenplay was written by Pekin Ibrahim and marks his directorial debut. It features an ensemble cast including Pekin himself, Rosyam Nor, Zul Huzaimy, Faizal Hussein, Cat Farish, Syamsul Yusof, Shaheizy Sam, Kamarool Hj. Yusof, Falisha Crossley, and Hakim Nawawi.

Roda-Roda Kuala Lumpur is a Malaysian police procedural television drama series produced by Skop Productions with original ideas and concepts by Yusof Haslam. First aired in 1998 on RTM, the original cast members are A. Galak, AC Mizal, Shaharon Anuar and Deen Maidin. The first reincarnation of the series was premiered on October 5, 1998 to March 29, 1999, and discontinued when Gerak Khas was first aired. The second reincarnation was revived in 2008 and aired until 2013.
Salina Saibi is a Malaysian actress and model. Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan is a 2022 Malaysian Malay-language biographical epic film that is inspired by historical events directed by Syamsul Yusof, starring Adi Putra as Mat Kilau bin Imam Rasu, a Malay warrior who fought the British colonialists during the Pahang Uprising in Pahang, British Malaya before independence. The film features Beto Kusyairy, Fattah Amin, Yayan Ruhian, Geoff Andre Feyaerts and Johan As'ari in supporting roles.
