Mohomed Shamil Mukthar Wakeel [1] is a Sri Lankan professional squash player. [2] [3] He is also employed at Brandix. [4] He studied at the D. S. Senanayake College. [5]

Career

He represented Sri Lanka at the 2016 South Asian Games, which marked his maiden appearance at the South Asian Games. [6] He represented Sri Lanka at the 2018 Asian Games, which also eventually marked his debut appearance at the Asian Games. [7] [8] He competed in the men's singles event at the 2018 Asian Games and lost to India's Saurav Ghosal in round of 32 match. [9]

He emerged as the winner in the Under-19 boys category at the 28th edition of the National Squash Championships in 2018. [10] [11] He participated at the 2018 Men's Asian Team Squash Championships and he won the 13th place play-off. [7] [12] He alongside Ravindu Laksiri competed at the 2019 World Squash Doubles Championships, which also marked the duo's first appearance at the World Squash Doubles Championships. [13] He was part of the Sri Lanka men's squash team which claimed bronze medal at the 2019 South Asian Games. [14] Prior to the start of the 2019 South Asian Games, he was sent by Sri Lanka Squash for an advanced training in Malaysia. [15]

He also took part in the 2021 Men's Asian Individual Squash Championships. [16] He was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2021 Men's Asian Team Squash Championships and Sri Lanka secured victories over Singapore and Indonesia to claim 10th position in the tournament. [17] [18] He along with Ravindu Laksiri competed at the 2022 World Squash Doubles Championships which was held in Glasgow. [19]

In October 2022, he reached the quarterfinals in men's singles at the 2022 Randburg Open (as part of the 2022–23 PSA World Tour) which was held in South Africa. [20] [21] He represented Sri Lanka at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where he made his maiden Commonwealth Games appearance. [22] He competed in the men's singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles categories during the 2022 Commonwealth Games. [23] [24]

He represented Sri Lanka at the 2022 Asian Games and competed in the mixed doubles event partnering with Chanithma Sinaly. [25] [26] He participated at the 2023 Pennant Hills NSW Open which was held in Pennant Hills, New South Wales. He defeated Australia's Jack Hudson in the men's singles final during the 2023 Pennant Hills NSW Open. [5]

De Silva broke 6 Sri Lankan national records and 4 internationally recognized records . Further, De Silva qualified with 4 World championship B standards(B cuts) for the 2018, 14th FINA World Swimming Championships held in Hangzhou, China. He narrowly missed the A standard in the 50m Butterfly (SCM) clocking 23.48. While the A standard could have made history for Sri Lanka as the first Sri Lankan to achieve the A standard he missed it by 0.2 seconds. Also, De Silva was bestowed the "Best Sportsman of the Year" award at the school level, provincial and Sri Lanka school level.

Shammu Ashan is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his List A debut for Sri Lanka A against West Indies A on 27 October 2016. Prior to his List A debut he was part of Sri Lanka's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Laksiri achieved his highest career ranking of 121 in 2023. He is the only player to have won the National title 10 times in a row. He also currently leads the Sri Lanka National Squash Team.

Kottasinghakkarage Nishan Madushka Fernando is a Sri Lankan cricketer. In April 2018, he was named in Dambulla's squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament. He made his List A debut for Dambulla in the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament on 2 May 2018. Prior to his List A debut, he was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Dimuth Akalanka Peiris also known as Dimuth Peiris is a Sri Lankan male swimmer and a national record holder in swimming. He represented Sri Lanka at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and competed in swimming competitions. In August 2018, he became the first ever Sri Lankan student to sit for a Sri Lankan GCE A/L examinations outside Sri Lanka as he was granted special permission to write A/L exams in Jakarta, Indonesia just prior to his preparations for the 2018 Asian Games. He represented Sri Lanka at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in October 2018 which was held in Argentina. Abeykoon Mudiyansalage Yupun Priyadarshana, known as Yupun Abeykoon, also referred to as Yupun Priyadarshana, is a Sri Lankan track and field athlete and a national record holder in men's 100m, men's 200m and in men's indoor 60m. He currently resides in Italy as he went on a scholarship to Italy in 2015. He is also attached to the Electronic and Mechanical Engineering Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army and represents Army Sports Club. He is currently regarded as the fastest Sri Lankan man as well as fastest South Asian man in men's 100m and 200m disciplines. On 3 July 2022, he became the first South Asian to break the 10-Second barrier for the men's 100 meters event at the Resisprint International competition, with a timing of 9.96 seconds, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Hetti Thanthrige Ushan Thiwanka Perera also simply known either as Ushan Thiwanka Perera or Ushan Perera is a Sri Lankan high jumper and a Sri Lankan national record holder in men's high jump as well as in men's indoor high jump. He currently lives in Texas, United States. He also currently serves as a military personnel with the Sri Lanka Army and affiliated with the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps.

Suresh Ranjan Dharmasena also known as DSR Dharmasena is a Sri Lankan wheelchair tennis player. He became a Paralympic competitor after sustaining injuries in the civil war. He made his first Paralympic appearance representing Sri Lanka at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
