Sharjah Warriorz (founded as Sharjah Warriors) is a professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that plays in the International League T20 (ILT20). It was one of the six teams that were announced for the inaugural season of the tournament. It was founded in 2022, and the team is owned by Capri Global. [1] [2]

The team is captained by English cricketer, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and coached by Johan Botha. The team's batting coach is JP Duminy. [3]

History

In August 2022, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) announced the establishment of the International League T20, a Twenty20 Cricket competition to be started in 2023. [4] Six teams were announced for the competition, the team building took place in an auction held in UAE in September 2022. In August 2022, it was announced that Capri Global would be the owners of a team based in Sharjah. [2] [5]

Jean-Paul Duminy, more commonly known as JP Duminy, is a South African cricket commentator, and former international cricketer. He was vice-captain of the South Africa Twenty20 team. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm off spin bowler. Duminy, who is a Cape Coloured, was raised in the Western Cape and played domestic cricket for his home team, the Cape Cobras. Duminy made history when he was the first South African to take a hat-trick at a Cricket World Cup, which he did against Sri Lanka during the 2015 tournament.

Johan Botha is a South African cricket coach, cricketer and long-distance runner, who played for the South African national team between 2005 and 2012. He moved to Australia in 2012 to play in that country's domestic leagues, and in 2016 became an Australian citizen. In January 2019, he retired from all forms of the game. However, in December 2020, he made a comeback as a replacement player for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2020–21 Big Bash League.

Sherfane Eviston Rutherford is a Guyanese cricketer. He made his Twenty20 International debut for the West Indies against Bangladesh on 22 December 2018 and his One Day International debut in December 2023 against England.

The 2021 Lanka Premier League also known as Wolf777 News LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It took place from 5 to 23 December 2021. The 2023 International League T20, also known as the DP World ILT20 2023 for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural season of the International League T20 (ILT20), a professional Twenty20 cricket league in the United Arab Emirates, organised by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). In June 2022, it was confirmed that the season would be played in January and February 2023. The fixtures were announced on 29 November with the league set to run from January 13 to February 12.

The 2025 International League T20 is the third season of the International League T20, a professional Twenty20 cricket league in the United Arab Emirates, organised by the Emirates Cricket Board. The tournament started on 11 January with the final scheduled to be held on 9 February 2025. MI Emirates are the defending champions.

The 2023 edition is the inaugural season for the International League T20 franchise Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. They are one of the six teams competing in the 2023 International League T20.
