Sheffield Lancers

The Sheffield Lancers were an ice hockey club from Sheffield, England that played at the Queens Road Ice Rink between 1974 and 1980. The Lancers initially played in the Southern League before transferring into the English League North in 1978 where they won the league's inaugural title.

Ice hockey is a contact team sport played on ice, usually in a rink, in which two teams of skaters use their sticks to shoot a vulcanized rubber puck into their opponent's net to score points. The sport is known to be fast-paced and physical, with teams usually consisting of six players each: one goaltender, and five players who skate up and down the ice trying to take the puck and score a goal against the opposing team.

Sheffield is a city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, its name derives from the River Sheaf, which runs through the city. In 1980 quite a few of the players relocated to Nottingham and became the second and current version of the Nottingham Panthers. The players who stayed behind formed the core of the Sheffield Sabres ice hockey team.

The Nottingham Panthers are a British professional ice hockey club based in Nottingham, England. They are members of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Their main team sponsor is the Nottingham Building Society.

Barry Glenn Nieckar is a Canadian retired ice hockey player who played eight games in the National Hockey League for the Hartford Whalers, Calgary Flames and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim between 1992 and 1998. He did not record a point, but tallied 21 penalty minutes.

The 2010–11 Elite Ice Hockey League season started on 25 August 2010, with the annual Charity Shield match between Coventry Blaze and Belfast Giants. The game took place at 7.30 pm on 25 August 2010. The match ended in 4-2 victory for the Giants.

Sutton Sting is an English ice hockey team that plays in the English National Ice Hockey League, north division. It is based at the Lammas Leisure Centre at Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, although the rink at that site is too small for match hockey so the team plays all home fixtures at IceSheffield instead.

The 2012–13 Elite Ice Hockey League season was the tenth season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season began on Saturday 8 September 2012 and ended on Sunday 24 March 2013, followed by the Play-Offs which culminated in the end-of-season Play-Off Finals on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 2013.
