ShiLi & Adi is a Singaporean musical duo founded in 2008, consisting of members ShiLi Yap and Adi Rakhmadian. The duo performed for the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix for four consecutive years, from 2012 to 2015. In 2018, the duo were chosen to open at the WAU Live Concert for Wakin Chau and others.

Members' life and career

ShiLi Yap was born on 30 March and is an alumna of Methodist Girls' School (Secondary), Victoria Junior College and National University of Singapore (NUS). In 2013, ShiLi started her own company called Merry Bees with co-founder John Lye. [1]

Adi Rakhmadian was born on 31 August and is originally from Surabaya, Indonesia. An alumnus of Victoria School, Victoria Junior College and National University of Singapore, he met ShiLi Yap while they were studying in Victoria Junior College. [2] Both ShiLi and Adi are members of Victoria Junior College choir who won three gold medals in the Choir Olympics in 2004, Bremen, Germany.

History

2008–2015: Formation and early years

From 2012 to 2015, ShiLi & Adi performed at various stages at the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix [3] in English, Chinese, Malay, and Hindi to race fans with jazz and pop classics at the Marina Stage, Esplanade Park Stage and others. [4]

2016: Our Story

In 2016, ShiLi & Adi opened the season with their first concert as a duo at the ExxonMobil Campus Concert [5] and a month later featured on First Sparks: 30 Years of Arts on Campus Part of ExxonMobil Campus Concerts alongside other local artists. [6]

2018: Rintangan

In 2017, ShiLi & Adi recorded "Rintangan" with arranger Erwin Gutawa as part of Indonesian jazz pianist and composer, Candra Darusman's tribute album Detik Waktu: Perjalanan Karya Cipta Candra Darusman which was released on 2 March 2018 by Demajors and Signature Music Indonesia. The album won Best Album of the Year award at the Indonesian equivalent of the Grammys, the AMI Awards 2018 [7] and featured other Indonesian and Malaysian artistes such as Sheila Majid, Glenn Fredley, Andien, and more.

In February 2018, ShiLi & Adi performed at NParks Concert Series in the Park: Rockestra [8] organised by the National Parks Board. In October 2018, the duo opened for Taiwanese artiste Wakin Chau to 20,000 crowd at the Singapore National Stadium, along with Joanna Dong [9] [10] organised by UnUsual Entertainment and WTA.

2019–present: Berdua

In 2019, ShiLi & Adi held a concert showcase "Berdua" on 13 February 2019 in Singapore to a sold out theatre to celebrate the upcoming releases of ShiLi & Adi's singles for "When I'm With You (WIWY)" / "Bersamamu]", "Pick Me" and "Kebetulan" / "原来 是你" [11] which will be out in phases from March 2019 onwards on Spotify, Apple Music, JOOX and Deezer via Warner Indonesia. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is a symphony orchestra based in Singapore. It is Singapore's flagship orchestra. Its principal concert venue is the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. The orchestra also gives concerts at the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, and performs over 60 concerts per year. The orchestra was first established In 1978 with Choo Hoey its resident director. The orchestra's music director from 1997 to 2019 was Shui Lan, and Hans Graf its Chief Conductor from 2020 and Music Director from 2022. The SSO is part of the Singapore Symphony Group, which also manages the Singapore Symphony Choruses, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO), the VCHpresents chamber music series, the Singapore International Piano Festival and the biennial National Piano and Violin Competition. It achieved third place in 2021 for Gramophone's Orchestra of the Year award, and made the list of the BBC Music Magazine's Top 21 Best Orchestras in the World in 2022.

The Singapore Indoor Stadium, known exonymously as the Indoor Stadium, is an indoor arena located in Kallang, Singapore. Erwin Gutawa Sumapraja is an Indonesian composer. In 1985, he started his professional music career by joining the jazz band Karimata, later becoming an independent composer in 1991. As a composer, he won the 1992 Midnight Sun Song Festival in Finland together with Ruth Sahanaya. In 2001 he won the Anugerah Musik Indonesia award for best music arranger for his concert Rockestra.

"Kidung Abadi" is a song written by father and daughter team Erwin and Gita Gutawa for the Kidung Abadi Chrisye concert; the concert was held on 5 April 2012 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Chrisye's death. The song was created over a period of three months by splicing syllables from previously recorded vocals by Chrisye. At the concert, spliced black-and-white footage of Chrisye was shown lip synching to the song while Erwin's orchestra performed the music. The song was well received: the audience gave it a rowdy ovation, while critics praised its lyrics and described it as one of the best parts of the concert.

Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo is an Indonesian badminton player who was formerly ranked world number 1 in the men's doubles by the Badminton World Federation. He won the men's doubles titles at the All England Open in 2017 and 2018; World Superseries Finals in 2017; and at the Asian Games in 2018. Shi Yuqi is a Chinese badminton player. Shi won his first Superseries title in the 2016 French Open. At the 2017 All England Open, he defeated 6-time champion Lin Dan to reach the final, and repeated the same feat again at the 2018 All England Open, where he outclassed Lin Dan in the tournament final. He also won a silver medal at the 2018 World Championships.
