Shilbhadra Dutta (born 1955) is an Indian politician who served as a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Barrackpur constituency from 2011 to 2021.
He has done post graduate and went to Calcutta University and got M.Com. and LLB (law) degree. [3]
He came to Indian National Congress party and played an important role. But he later joins Trinamool Congress in 1998 with hands of Mamata Banerjee. Then he got a ticket as a candidate for Barrackpur seat at 2011 (after destabilising Titagarh constituency;as per Delimination Act). He got 79,515 votes and won. After 5 years,he won again that seat in 2016.[ citation needed ]
At December 2020,Trinamool Congress authorities appointed Prashant Kishor as IT in charge and adviser for 2021 Vidhan Sabha elections in West Bengal. [4] There after most of the Trinamool leaders especially Dutta were criticising Kishor for controlling the party. Kishor's team (I-PAC) went to Dutta's house after that. But Dutta declined their advice and said that what he is doing,he thought that well before doing it. [5]
At 18 December 2020,after Suvendu Adhikari resigns his MLA seat,Dutta also resigns from TMC but remained his MLA seat. Later at 20 December,Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah's rally at Medinipur,Adhikari joined in Bharatiya Janata Party along with 9 MLAs including Dutta. Although,Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool rejected that incident.[ citation needed ]
In March 2021,BJP Bengal had prepared list of candidates getting ticket on 2021 Legislative assembly polls. It was declared later that BJP will give Dutta to Khardaha constituency. [6] [7]
The All India Trinamool Congress,colloquially the Trinamool Congress is an Indian political party which is predominantly active in West Bengal. Nandigram Vidhan Sabha constituency is an assembly constituency in Purba Medinipur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The General election to the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal for 292 constituencies out of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed and was scheduled to be held on 16 May 2021. Polling in Nandigram took place on 1 April.
