Russia defeated the United States 3–2 in the final to claim the gold medal,while the Czech Republic defeated Canada 3–2 to capture the bronze medal.
The 2008 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III was a pair of international under-18 ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division III tournaments made up the fourth level of competition at the 2008 IIHF World U18 Championships. The Group A tournament took place between 2 and 8 March 2008 in Mexico City,Mexico and the Group B tournament took place between 3 and 9 March 2008 in İzmit,Turkey. Mexico and Serbia won the Group A and Group B tournaments respectively and gained promotion to Division II for the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships.
The 2010 IIHF World Championship Division II was a pair of international ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournaments were contested between 10 and 17 April 2010. Participants in this championship were drawn into two separate tournament groups. The Group A tournament was contested in Naucalpan,Mexico. Group B's games were played in Narva,Estonia. Spain and Estonia won Group A and Group B,respectively,to earn promotion to Division I at the 2011 IIHF World Championship. Meanwhile,Turkey and Israel finished last in Group A and B and were relegated to Division III for 2011. These four teams were replaced by Serbia and Croatia,which were relegated from Division I,and Ireland and North Korea which earned promotion from Division III.

Group A was contested from 4–10 April 2011 in Melbourne,Australia and Group B was contested from 10 to 16 April 2011 in Zagreb,Croatia. Prior to the start of the tournament the North Korean national team announced they would withdraw,citing financial reasons. All games against them were counted as a forfeit,with a score of 5–0 for the opposing team. This was the last year of parallel divisional tournaments so teams that finished third and above formed Group A for 2012,and the lower finishers formed Group B.

It was held from 15 February 2012 to 19 February 2012 in Qiqihar,China. Japan won the tournament for the second year in a row after defeating China's first team in the gold medal game. China's second team won bronze after defeating South Korea in the third place match.
Hannah Brandt is an American ice hockey centre,currently playing for PWHL Boston of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She was named to the United States women's national ice hockey team,which represented the United States at the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship. She won the 2012 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award. She debuted for the U.S. national women's team at the 2014 4 Nations Cup in Kamloops,British Columbia,Canada.

The tournaments made up the second,third and fourth levels of competition at the 2017 IIHF World Women's U18 Championships respectively. The Division I Group A tournament took place between 8 January and 14 January 2017 in Budapest,Hungary. The tournament was won by Germany who gained promotion to the Championship Division for 2018 while France finished last and was relegated to the Division I Group B competition. The Division I Group B tournament took place between 8 January and 14 January 2017 in Katowice,Poland. Italy won the tournament and gained promotion to Division I Group A while Kazakhstan was relegated to Division I Group B Qualification after finishing in last place. The Division I Group B Qualification tournament was held in San Sebastián,Spain from 26 January to 29 January 2017. The tournament was won by Australia who gained promotion to Division I Group B for 2018.
