The Silliman University Divinity School, more commonly referred to as the Divinity School, is one of the constituent academic units of Silliman University, a private university in Dumaguete City, Philippines. Founded in 1921, the school is affiliated with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines and is accredited with the Association of Theological Education in South East Asia (ATESEA). [1]
The Divinity School opened in 1921 as the Silliman Bible School upon the proposition of Dr. Rank Laubach, a member of the American Board Mission of the Congregational Church in Mindanao. It was envisioned to be a joint Congregationalist-Presbyterian Training School for Visayan-speaking students who are interested in church ministry. [1] As its curriculum was further developed, the Bible School was renamed as the College of Theology in 1935. Still later, and in keeping with the trend among theological schools in other parts of the world, it was further renamed as the Silliman University Divinity School. In 1966, it became one of the participating schools of the South East Asia Graduate School of Theology (SEAGST). [1]
As a Protestant seminary, the Divinity School is affiliated with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines, providing various undergraduate and graduate degrees which are accredited with the Association for Theological Education in South East Asia (ATESEA). [1] [2] These degrees are: [3]
The school is located in a three-building complex inside the Silliman campus, composed of McKinley Hall, Rodriguez Hall, and the Chapel of the Evangel. McKinley Hall houses the Divinity School's classrooms and faculty offices; while the Rodriguez Hall, houses the assembly area, faculty and students lounge, as well as various offices. The Chapel of the Evangel serves as the school's worship center. Also under the school's management is the Divinity Village for its married students, and various dormitories for other Divinity students. The school likewise maintains its own library which has a collection of more than 13,000 books and 120 periodical titles. [4]
The Acadia Divinity College (ADC) is the official seminary of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC), functioning within its evangelical tradition, and governed by a board of trustees with members appointed by the Convention and the Board of Governors of Acadia University. The college is also the Faculty of Theology of Acadia University. The university awards all of the Acadia Divinity College degrees, upon recommendation from the ADC Senate and the Senate of Acadia University. The graduate degrees are fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) is a Baptist seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. It is the oldest of the six seminaries affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The seminary was founded in 1859 in Greenville, South Carolina, where it was at first housed on the campus of Furman University. After being closed during the Civil War, it moved in 1877 to a newly built campus in downtown Louisville and moved to its current location in 1926 in the Crescent Hill neighborhood. For more than fifty years Southern has been one of the world's largest theological seminaries, with an FTE enrollment of over 3,300 students in 2015.

As an educator, Nielson has taught in Nazarene universities, colleges and seminaries in the USA, the Philippines, Australia, and Samoa, including serving as Associate Professor of Religion at Mount Vernon Nazarene University for 11 years. Previously, Nielson served as a global missionary for the Church of the Nazarene for 17 years. Nielson has written 3 books, a children's musical, and a had several poems and songs published.

Alliance Bible Seminary, is a C&MA seminary, located in Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. The seminary was originally founded in 1899 in Wuzhou, Guangxi, under the name Alliance Bible College. Established by missionaries Dr. Robert Glover and Robert A. Jaffray, ABS was the first C&MA seminary to be founded overseas, and one of the first seminaries in South China. In 1949, the seminary was moved to Cheung Chau, Hong Kong by Dr. William C. Newbern after the Communist takeover of mainland China. ABS was founded before any church plant and trained many of its students for missionary work. After they graduated, most were sent to establish new churches. Hence, most churches of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Hong Kong were planted by their graduates.
