Simon David Weale (born 16 September 1967) is a former English cricketer and current Director of Bishop Cotton School,Shimla in India His previous role was as headmaster of Shebbear College in Devon.
Weale was born in Knightsbridge,London. After attending Westminster City School in London he went up to study History at Keble College,Oxford. [1]
A right-handed batsman who bowled slow left-arm orthodox,Weale made his first-class debut for Oxford University against Nottinghamshire in 1986. From 1986 to 1990,he represented the University in 20 first-class matches,the last of which came against Cambridge University. [2] In his 20 first-class matches for the University,he scored 365 runs at a batting average of 17.38,with 2 half centuries and a high score of 76. In the field he took 3 catches. [3] With the ball he took 15 wickets at a bowling average of 97.26,with best figures of 3/130. [4] Weale also played a single first-class match during this time for a combined Oxford and Cambridge Universities team against the touring Pakistan in 1987. [5]
In 1999,he represented the Middlesex Cricket Board in a single List A match against Cumberland in the 1999 NatWest Trophy. [6] In his only List A match,he scored an unbeaten 9 runs [7] and with the ball he took a single wicket at a cost of 24 runs. [8]
After teaching history at Judd School in Tonbridge,Kent,Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith,London,head of Sixth Form Reigate Grammar School in Surrey and deputy head Brentwood School,Essex,he took up the position of headmaster at Shebbear College in Devon in 2013. [9] In 2019 he became director of Bishop Cotton School,Shimla,India. [10]
Greville Thomas Scott Stevens was an English amateur cricketer who played for Middlesex,the University of Oxford and England. A leg-spin and googly bowler and attacking batsman,he captained England in one Test match,in South Africa in 1927. He was widely regarded as one of the leading amateur cricketers of his generation who,because of his commitments outside cricket,was unable to fulfil his potential and left the game early.
Edward William Bastard was an English first-class cricketer who played for Oxford University and Somerset. Bastard was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler,described in his Wisden obituary as Somerset's best bowler during his time with the club. Bastard was also part of the Oxford team often said to be the university's best ever.
Lionel Charles Hamilton Palairet was an English amateur cricketer who played for Somerset and Oxford University. A graceful right-handed batsman,he was selected to play Test cricket for England twice in 1902. Contemporaries judged Palairet to have one of the most attractive batting styles of the period. His obituary in The Times described him as "the most beautiful batsman of all time". An unwillingness to tour during the English winter limited Palairet's Test appearances;contemporaries believed he deserved more Test caps.
Alfred Henry Evans was an English first-class cricketer and educator. Considered one of the best fast bowlers in England at the time,Evans played in 44 first-class matches between 1878 and 1885,taking over 200 wickets. He would later became a schoolmaster at Winchester College and would found Horris Hill School in 1882,where he was headmaster until 1920.

Harold Clark McDonell was an English first-class cricketer and educator. As a cricketer,he played county cricket for both Surrey and Hampshire,and varsity cricket for Cambridge University. In nearly 130 first-class appearances,he took nearly 450 wickets with his leg spin bowling,in addition to scoring over 3,000 runs. As an educator,McDonnell began his teaching career at Twyford School,where he had attended in his youth. From 1910 to 1937,he was headmaster of the school.

Bosanquet,who played first-class cricket for Middlesex between 1898 and 1919,appeared in seven Test matches for England as an all-rounder. He was chosen as a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1905.
