Troy University is a public university in Troy, Alabama. It was founded in 1887 as Troy State Normal School within the Alabama State University System, and is now the flagship university of the Troy University System. It was one of about 180 "normal schools" founded by state governments in the 19th century to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools. Some closed but most steadily expanded their role and became state colleges in the early 20th century and state universities in the late 20th century.
Troy Eugene Percival is an American baseball coach and former professional baseball pitcher. He gained fame as a closer. He is currently the manager of the Idaho Falls Chukars of the Pioneer League. The Troy Trojans baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team of Troy University, located in Troy, Alabama, United States. It competes in the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference. The program began play in 1911. In 1986 and 1987, Troy won Division II national championships under head coach Chase Riddle. As a Division II program, the team won 10 conference titles and appeared in 14 NCAA regionals and 7 College World Series.
Bobby Pierce is an American baseball coach and former outfielder. He is an assistant baseball coach at Chipola Junior College. He started his coaching career at Chipola Junior College, where he coached from 1982 to 1989. He posted a 259–92 record there with five berths in the state tournament. He was later hired as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Alabama. As an assistant, he went 158–122. In 1996, he was the head baseball coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he went 276–108. He also served as the head baseball coach of the Troy Trojans (2003–2016).
Richie Meade is an American college lacrosse coach and the former head coach at Furman University. Prior to coaching at Furman, he was the head coach of the Navy lacrosse team at the United States Naval Academy and at the University of Baltimore until they discontinued their athletics program. Meade was an assistant coach at Duke University, the University of North Carolina, and the United States Military Academy.
Troy William Buckley is an American college baseball coach and former catcher. He is the pitching coach for the Fresno State Bulldogs. He played college baseball at Santa Clara University from 1987 to 1989 for coach John Oldham. He served as the head coach at California State University, Long Beach from 2011 season until April 11, 2019. He has also coached in the minor league systems of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Montreal Expos.

They began playing in the NCAA's Division I-A in 2001, became a football only member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2004, and joined that conference for all other sports in 2005. Troy University's athletics nickname was the Red Wave until the early 1970s when the student body voted to change the name to Trojans.
Mark Smartt is an American baseball coach. He played at DeKalb Central Junior College and Troy State, where he earned All-Conference honors and helped the team to two NCAA Division II College World Series championships. He served as a graduate assistant for the Troy State Trojans before becoming an assistant at the University of West Alabama. He was promoted to the head coach of West Alabama in 1994. He served as an assistant coach at Troy State for thirteen years before ascending to the top job. On June 28, 2021, Smartt and Troy mutually agreed to part ways.

Aaron Meade is an American baseball coach and former pitcher. He was the head baseball coach of the Tarleton State Texans. Meade played college baseball at Missouri State from 2007 to 2010 and in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for four seasons from 2010 to 2013.
