The Slovak Football League (Slovak : Slovenská futbalová liga) is a national American Football league in Slovakia. [1] The league was founded in 2011 by the Slovak Association of American Football; there are seven teams that compete in the league today.
Slovak or less frequently Slovakian is a West Slavic language. It is called slovenský jazyk or slovenčina in the language itself.
American football, referred to as football in the United States and Canada and also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, which is the team controlling the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with or passing the ball, while the defense, which is the team without control of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and aims to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs, or plays, and otherwise they turn over the football to the defense; if the offense succeeds in advancing ten yards or more, they are given a new set of four downs. Slovakia, officially the Slovak Republic, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the west, and the Czech Republic to the northwest. The Bratislava Monarchs are an American football team from Bratislava, Slovakia, established in 1996. Today, the Monarchs are competing in the Austrian Football League.

The Slovakia national football team represents Slovakia in association football and is controlled by the Slovak Football Association (SFZ), the governing body for football in Slovakia. Slovakia's home stadium from 2019 is reconstructed Tehelné pole in capital city of Slovakia Bratislava and their head coach is Pavel Hapal. Slovakia is one of the newest national football teams in the world, having split from the Czechoslovakia national team after the dissolution of the unified state in 1993. Slovakia maintains its own national side that competes in all major professional tournaments since.
The Football Association of the Czech Republic or colloquially the Czech Football Association is the governing body of football in the Czech Republic, based in Prague. It organizes the lower-level league competitions in the country, the Czech Cup, and the Czech Republic national football team.

Ľubomír "Lubo" Moravčík is a football manager and former footballer from Slovakia who played internationally for Czechoslovakia and Slovakia. He was a member of the Czechoslovak team at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where he was sent off against Germany in the quarter-final in Milan.

1. FC Tatran Prešov is a Slovak football club based in the city of Prešov. Tatran Prešov is the oldest football team in Slovakia, founded on 25 May 1898. The club currently participates in the 2. liga. The "Green and Whites" played 32 seasons in the Czechoslovak top division. Tatran became the dark horse of Czechoslovak football in the 1960s and 1970s, but never won a title. The greatest league success was the first place in Champions league 1999 and 2000 seasons. The club also came close in the Czechoslovak Cup, losing twice in 1966 and 1992 finals.

Harimau Muda A was the club name for the former Malaysia Under-22 National Football Team, representing Malaysia in international football competitions such as the AFC U-22 Asian Cup, Champions Youth Cup as well as other under-22 international football tournaments. It was managed by Football Association of Malaysia. The squad was the feeder team for Malaysia U-23 and senior national football team. In 2015, Harimau Muda once again became a single team composed of former Harimau Muda A & B players. On 25 November 2015, it was confirmed that the club was disbanded by FAM which meant that all the players were returned to their own state sides.

The Czechoslovak First League was the premier football league in the Czechoslovakia from 1925 to 1993, with the exception of World War II. Czechoslovakia was occupied by German forces who formed Gauliga Sudetenland and Gauliga Böhmen und Mähren leagues on occupied territories. Vladimír Hriňák was a Slovak football referee. He took up refereeing in 1982, and was promoted to the Czechoslovak First League for the 1992–93 season. In 1993, he became a FIFA-listed match official, and in a 16-year international career, he refereed over 100 UEFA matches. In 2008, Hriňák was selected as the fourth official for the Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea, as part of an all-Slovak team headed by Ľuboš Micheľ. Hriňák's final international fixture was a match between Villarreal and Red Bull Salzburg in the group stage of the 2009–10 Europa League on 17 December 2009.
The Slovak Association of American Football (SAAF) is the governing body of American football in Slovakia. It takes part in the organization of all the competitions related to the Slovak Championship. SAAF is responsible for the expansion and popularization of the sport. In Slovakia, American football is played under the 7v7, 11v11 and flag football variants.
