Superserien is the highest level of American football in Sweden, founded 1984 and became official in 1991. The number of teams in the top league has varied through the years, ranging from 4 to 10.

Michael Edward McMahon is a former American football quarterback who played for five seasons in the National Football League (NFL), mostly serving in a backup quarterback role. He spent one season in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and one season in the United Football League (UFL). After playing college football for Rutgers, he was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played for the Lions for four seasons from 2001 to 2004, and for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005. McMahon played for the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes of the CFL in 2007. He signed with the California Redwoods of the UFL in 2009 and played for the Virginia Destroyers from 2011 to 2012. He last played in Europe for the Uppsala 86ers of the Swedish Superserien in 2013.

Danny Clarence Hawkins is an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Willamette University from 1993 to 1997, Boise State University from 2001 to 2005, and the University of Colorado Boulder from 2006 to 2010, and the University of California, Davis from 2017 to 2023, compiling a career college football head coaching record of 156–92–1. Hawkins was the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) for five games in 2013 before he was fired mid-season. Taylor Bennett is a former American football quarterback and former member of the Georgia House of Representatives. He began his collegiate career at Georgia Tech before transferring to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. He majored in International Affairs at Georgia Tech. He later enrolled as a graduate student majoring in Information Systems Security at Louisiana Tech in the fall of 2008. Taylor also obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School.

Rick Rhoades is an American football coach who has worked at the high school, college, and professional levels. The Örebro Black Knights are a Swedish American football team established in 1989 and based in Örebro, Sweden. The team plays in the Örebro in Sweden and their home field is the Behrn Arena. In 2014, the team competed in the IFAF Champions League in the Northern group together with Carlstad Crusaders, Copenhagen Towers and Helsinki Roosters. They have competed in the Swedish league, Swedish Superserien since 2011 which currently has 4 Swedish teams competing for the title. They reached the semi-final in the 2019 season being knocked out by Stockholm Mean Machines. The current head coach is Aaron Fiddler who joined in 2016.
