SoHo is a premium entertainment channel in New Zealand available on Sky Network Television. The channel mainly broadcasts popular shows from American cable networks Showtime, AMC, Starz, HBO and FX, which are themselves not available in New Zealand. It also broadcasts shows from Britain, especially from the BBC, and also broadcasts films. [1]
There is also a SoHo channel in Australia, which launched on 20 August 2012.[ citation needed ]
A sister channel, SoHo2 launched on 7 November 2018. [2]
SoHo2 was closed on 16 March 2021 and all the content was moved to the SoHo channel. [3]
In 2022, SoHo will distribute the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon alongside Sky's streaming service Neon. [4]

Sky One was a British pay television channel operated and owned by Sky Group. Originally launched on 26 April 1982 as Satellite Television, it was Europe's first satellite and non-terrestrial channel. From 31 July 1989, it became Sky One and broadcast exclusively in the United Kingdom and Ireland as British Sky Broadcasting's flagship channel, being the most watched television service in history. It existed until 1 September 2021, when it closed down as part of a restructuring with its EPG position taken by Sky Showcase and much of its content library moved to Sky Max.
Sky Network Television Limited, more commonly known as Sky, is a New Zealand broadcasting company that provides pay television services via satellite, media streaming services and broadband internet services. It is also a wholesale channel provider to New Zealand IPTV provider Vodafone. As at 30 June 2021, Sky had 955,168 subscribers consisting of 561,989 satellite subscribers and 393,179 streaming subscribers. Despite the similarity of name, branding and services, such as Sky Go and MySky shared with its European equivalent, Sky, there is no connection between the companies.
Three is a New Zealand nationwide television channel. Launched on 26 November 1989 as TV3, it was New Zealand's first privately-owned television channel. The channel currently broadcasts nationally in digital free-to-air form via the state-owned Kordia on terrestrial and satellite. Vodafone also carries the channel for their cable subscribers in Wellington and Christchurch. It previously broadcast nationally on analogue television until that was switched off on 1 December 2013.

In the United States, subscription television began in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the form of encrypted analog over-the-air broadcast television which could be decrypted with special equipment. The concept rapidly expanded through the multi-channel transition and into the post-network era. Best News Entertainment is a New Zealand television, radio and print media company specialising in media for Asian migrants and Asian language communities. It currently operates a free-to-air television channel on the Freeview platform and three 24-hour radio networks through terrestrial radio.
The Smithsonian Channel is an American pay television channel owned by ViacomCBS through its domestic media networks division under MTV Entertainment Group. It offers video content inspired by the Smithsonian Institution's museums, research facilities and magazines.
HGTV is an American pay television channel owned by Discovery, Inc. The network primarily broadcasts reality programming related to home improvement and real estate. As of February 2015, approximately 95,628,000 American households receive HGTV. Fox Showcase is an Australian premium drama cable and satellite television channel. It was initially part of the Showtime Australia channels and was managed by PMP chief executive officer Peter Rose. In 2007 Rose said Showcase "provides a real home at last for quality drama in Australia, and this list of outstanding event television is just the start". Showcase launched with the Australian TV premieres of Dexter and Australian-made series Satisfaction.
Paramount+ is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service owned and operated by ViacomCBS Streaming, a division of ViacomCBS. It offers original and library content from the CBS Entertainment Group and ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks broadcast properties, as well as the Paramount Pictures library. Originally launched as CBS All Access on October 28, 2014, the service was expanded and rebranded as Paramount+ on March 4, 2021, following the 2019 re-merger of CBS and Viacom.
Comedy Central is an Australian and New Zealand 24-hour linear subscription television channel dedicated to comedy programming owned by ViacomCBS, launched on April Fool's Day 2009 in New Zealand and on 1 April 2016 in Australia. The channel is exclusively available via Australian IPTV provider Fetch TV in Australia and is broadcast on the Sky TV platform in New Zealand. It was one of the first Comedy Central franchises to be launched outside the United States. The channel has a strong blend of animation, stand-up and scripted programs. The core audience demographic covers the 15–48 age bracket. It features well known international titles, as well as some local content. It has strong viewership and is one of the top entertainment channels on the Sky TV platform.
Pluto TV is an internet television service owned and operated by ViacomCBS Streaming, a division of ViacomCBS, Co-founded by Tom Ryan, Ilya Pozin and Nick Grouf in 2013 and based in Los Angeles, California, in the United States and parts of Europe, Latin America, and Brazil. Pluto is an advertiser-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) service that primarily offers a selection of programming content through digital linear channels designed to emulate the experience of traditional broadcast programming. Peacock is an American over-the-top video streaming service owned and operated by the Television and Streaming division of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. Named after the NBC logo, the service launched on July 15, 2020. The service primarily features series and film content from NBCUniversal studios and other third-party content providers, including television series, films, news, and sports programming. The service is available in a free ad-supported version with limited content, while premium tiers include a larger content library and access to additional NBC Sports and WWE Network content.
House of the Dragon is an upcoming American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019) and is based on Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood. Set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones the series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the "Dance of the Dragons", and the war itself. House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019 with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography beginning in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The first season of the series is scheduled to premiere in 2022 and will consist of ten episodes.
