Founded in 1897 as a Yiddish-language daily socialist newspaper, The New York Times reported that Seth Lipsky "started an English-language offshoot of the Yiddish-language newspaper" as a weekly newspaper in 1990.

The Revolutionary Age was an American radical newspaper edited by Louis C. Fraina and published from November 1918 until August 1919. Originally the publication of Local Boston, Socialist Party, the paper evolved into the de facto national organ of the Left Wing Section of the Socialist Party which battled for control of the Socialist Party throughout the spring and summer of 1919. With the establishment of the Left Wing National Council in June 1919, the paper was moved from Boston to New York City gained status as the official voice of the nascent American communist movement. The publication was terminated in August 1919, replaced by the official organ of the new Communist Party of America, a weekly newspaper known as The Communist.

Raivaaja was a Finnish-language newspaper published from 1905 to 2009 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, by Raivaaja Publishing Company. For the first three decades of its existence the publication was closely associated with the Socialist Party of America (SPA). In 1936 as part of a large factional split in the SPA, the former Finnish Socialist Federation severed its connection to become the "Finnish American League for Democracy," with Raivaaja remaining the official organ of this remodeled organization.

The first issue was on the 4th of April 1931 initially published by the Revolutionary Workers' Groups and edited by Tom Bell, the paper was relaunched when the W. T. Cosgrave government fell in March 1932, with Brian O'Neill as editor. The paper became the publication of the Communist Party of Ireland founded in 1933. The paper was named the Irish Workers' Voice to distinguish it from Jim Larkin's The Irish Worker. The Irish Worker along with other left wing and republican newspapers were banned in Northern Ireland in 1940.

Previously, it was published by the Communist Party of Northern Ireland (CPNI) prior to its merger with the southern party which formed the Communist Party of Ireland. The CPNI also published the newspaper The Red Hand.
