Sofia Kourtesis (born 18 August 1984) [1] is a Peruvian [2] DJ and producer based in Berlin, Germany. [3]

History

She was born in Magdalena, Lima, Peru. [1] Kourtesis released her debut EP, This Is It, in 2014. [4] Kourtesis released her self-titled second EP in 2019 [5] and an EP of four songs in 2020 titled Sarita Colonia. [6] This was followed by a five-song EP in 2021 called Fresia Magdalena. [7] [8]

Kourtesis released a single titled "Estación Esperanza" featuring Manu Chao in 2022 and the single "Madres" in 2023. [9] Both of these songs were included on her debut album, Madres , released in October 2023 via the Ninja Tune label. [10]

Madres is the debut album by Peruvian producer Sofia Kourtesis, released on 27 October 2023 through Ninja Tune. It was preceded by the singles "Estación Esperanza" featuring Manu Chao, "Madres" and "Si Te Portas Bonito". It received acclaim from critics and charted in Scotland as well as on several UK component charts.
