The Torneo Gran Alternativa is an annual lucha libre tournament held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The tournament was not held in 1997, 2000, or 2002, but was held twice in 1996 and 1998. The most recent Torneo Gran Alternativa tournament was held in December 2021. The tournament has always been held in Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, the main arena of CMLL.

Copa MX, officially known as Copa Corona MX for sponsorship reasons, was the domestic cup tournament of Mexican football. Formerly known as Copa México and also as Copa Presidente (1963–1970), the first season of the professional era was held in 1942–43. The cup tournament was not held in several years and currently the competition has been paused since the 2019–20 edition. It was the first tournament that included teams from different parts of Mexico and was considered a prestigious competition, especially during its earlier years of existence. The purpose of the competition was to determine a national cup champion, thus distinguishing it from the national league championship. Its format was different from the local leagues as well, as it employed direct elimination and culminated in a final match.

The International Gran Prix, sometimes written as International Grand Prix, is an annual tournament held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), that was held from 1994 to 2008, although there was no tournament in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004. The tournament was revived in 2016, being held annually since then, with the most recent edition being held in 2024. In 2022, a separate women's tournament was established and has been held annually alongside the men's tournament. The tournament was inspired by New Japan Pro-Wrestling's International Wrestling Grand Prix tournament in the 1980s.

The CMLL Universal Championship is an annual lucha libre tournament held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) since 2009. The Lucha Libre World Cup is an annual professional wrestling tournament and event organized by Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) since 2015. The first two tournaments, which featured three-man tag teams, referred to as trios in lucha libre, were held in Mexico City, while the third tournament, which featured traditional two-man tag teams, was held in Tokyo, Japan.

In Lucha libre, the Mexican version of professional wrestling, the Ruleta de la Muerte is a type of professional wrestling tournament where the loser or losers of a match would advance in the tournament instead of the winners. The finals of a Ruleta de la Muerte tournament featured the losing teams wrestle each other under Lucha de Apuestas, or "bet match" rules, where the loser would be forced to either unmask or have all their hair shaved off as a result. Various Mexican promotions have held Ruleta de la Muerte tournaments; some like International Wrestling Revolution Group have held these tournaments on a regular basis.

<i>Torneo Gran Alternativa</i> (2017) Mexican professional wrestling tournament

The Gran Alternativa 2017 is an ongoing professional wrestling tournament event produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre that began on June 2, 2017 and will take place over three editions of CMLL's Friday night Super Viernes shows. The Torneo Gran Alternativa was first held in 1994 and is CMLL's oldest recurring tournament. The 2017 Gran Alternativa tournament will be the 22nd tournament held. In the Gran Alternativa a Novato, or rookie wrestler, team up with an experienced or "veteran" wrestler for a tag team tournament. The rookie winner is often elevated up the ranks of CMLL as a result of winning the tournament, but there is no specific "prize" for winning the tournament beyond a symbolic trophy.

The 2019 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 83rd such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Teams participated at several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for division placements in the 2020 competition. Two national teams, Kyrgyzstan and Thailand, made their debut in the World Championships.
