The water polo Competitions at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games took place at the Leyes de Reforma Aquatics Centre in Veracruz, Mexico from November 22 to 29. [1] There were two competitions, one each for men and women, seven national teams competed in the men's tournament, while five contested the women's event. The top 3 teams (affiliated to the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation) in each tournament qualifies to compete at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. [2]

The field hockey tournament at the 2003 Pan American Games was held in the Santo Domingo Stadium, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from August 1–17, 2003. It served as a qualification tournament for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. First place received a ticket for the Olympic tournament. The men competed for the tenth time at the Pan Americans, the women for the fifth time.
The water polo tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 20 August at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre in Barra da Tijuca. Twenty teams competed in the tournament. Games that ended in ties in elimination rounds were decided by shootouts, as overtime has been abolished since 2013.
