Solanki is a clan of Mer community [1] [2] [3] in northern India. They are particularly found in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. [4]

Madhav Singh Solanki was a leader of Indian National Congress party who served as External Affairs minister of India. He served also as the Chief Minister of Gujarat three times. He was known for KHAM theory by which he came to power in Gujarat in 1980s.

The Chudasama are a Rajputclan found in the state of Gujarat in India. They are offshoot of Samma (tribe) of Sind.

The Bhavsar is a caste found in the Indian states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. The name Raijada was adopted by one Bhupatsinh, son of Ra' Mandlik, who was given jagir of Sorath The Raijada, Rana, Sarvaiya and Chudasama consider themselves brothers, they off-shoot branches from Chudasama, so they do not intermarry, as per their Rajput traditions. Until independence of India, they held extensive Jagirs near Keshod and Chorwad in Sorath.

Parshottambhai Odhavjibhai Solanki is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician. He is member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly since 1998 representing Bhavnagar Rural constituency. He has served as the Minister of Fishery in the Government of Gujarat. He is alleged to have caused loss of 400 crore to the government of Gujarat by granting contracts improperly.

Mer, Maher or Mehar is a caste from the Saurashtra region of Gujarat in India. They are largely based in the Porbandar district, comprising the low-lying, wetland Ghēḍ and highland Barḍā areas, and they speak a dialect of the Gujarati language. The Mers of the Ghēḍ and Barḍā form two groups of the jāti and together they are the main cultivators in the Porbandar District. Historically, the men served the Porbandar State as a feudal militia, led by Mer leaders. In the 1881 Gazette of the Bombay Presidency, the Mers were recorded numbering at 23,850. The 1951 Indian Census recorded 50,000 Mers. As of 1980 there were estimated to be around 250,000 Mers.

The Talapada, or Talpada, is a subcaste of the Koli caste of Gujarat state in India. Talapada Kolis are agriculturists by profession. they were members of the Gujarat Kshatriya Sabha, an organisation launched by Natwarsinh Solanki who was a Koli elite. In 1907, they were classified by the British as a Criminal Tribe, ascribing to them a range of anti-social activities such as highway robbery, murder, and theft of animals, cattle and standing crops. They were also alleged to be blackmailers and hired assassins.

Chauhan or Chouhan is a clan (gotra) mostly found in the Mer Hindu caste of Gujarat, India.

Chudasama is a Gujarati clan of the Mer ethnic people. They are found in different districts of Gujarat, India. It is one of the most important clan of the fourteen clans in the Mer community.
