Christopher McGill, professionally known as Soleternity, is a record producer, music composer, and mix engineer from Rockford, Illinois.

Work with Snoop Dogg & Stevie J

Soleternity produced the song "DNA" [2] by Snoop Dogg and Stevie J for Vh1's Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta compilation album released by Def Jam Recordings on August 19, 2014. [3] The song appeared multiple times in episode 16 of season 3 of VH1's Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, including a segment that shows Snoop Dogg recording his vocals for the song. [4]

Soleternity performed the instrumental to "DNA" during an iStandard Chicago Producer Showcase on December 9, 2010. [5] Soleternity won the showcase [6] and connected with Rhythm J of iStandard, who facilitated placing the "DNA" beat with Stevie J. [7]

Work with Strange Music

Soleternity produced the song "Technicians" for Tech N9ne's chart topping 2011 album All 6's and 7's. [8] [9] "Technicians" combines Tech N9ne's intense, rapid-fire vocal performance style with a dubstep-hip hop hybrid instrumental from Soleternity. [10]

Soleternity first created music for Tech N9ne's record label Strange Music in 2007 when he produced the song "Crew Cut" by Krizz Kaliko, BG Bulletwound, Kutt Calhoun, Skatterman & Snugbrim, and Tech N9ne, for Krizz Kaliko's album Vitiligo. [11]

Soleternity and Krizz Kaliko also worked together on Krizz Kaliko's "S.I.C." EP album released in 2011, which contains the Soleternity-produced songs "Down (Featuring Tech N9ne)" and "Rain Dance." [12] Soleternity discussed his work with Strange Music in an hour-long interview for the Strange Music podcast on February 27, 2012. [13]

Work with Bone Crusher, Khujo Goodie

In 2006, Soleternity produced and mixed eight songs on Bone Crusher's Billboard top 100 album Release The Beast, including the album's lead single, "Southern Gorillaz." [14] [15]

During this same time period Soleternity produced and mixed three songs on Khujo Goodie's album "Mercury," released by Koch Records. [16]

Soleternity has composed instrumentals for MTV, [1] ESPN, [1] And1 Live Tour, [23] and Native Instruments. [24]

In 2003, Soleternity supplied the instrumental for the song "Sleep with an AK" by Young Buck featuring Skip of UTP. [25] The instrumental was originally called "No Lights On" and was produced in 2002. [26]

In 2004, Soleternity produced 17 songs on the album "Beautifully Absurd" by the hip hop-r&b group Mistaken Identity. He also performed vocals on 6 songs. [27]

In 2010, Soleternity produced 13 songs on the album "Welcome to Charlotte" by hip hop artist Mr. 704. Guest appearances on the album include Khujo Goodie, Pastory Troy, and Pimp of Dirty. [28]

On November 4, 2011, Soleternity, Harrison Kjell, Alexander Barclay, and Barry Nailor released an iPhone app entitled "SE Mobile Studio." [29]

On April 22, 2013, Soleternity and hip hop artist Fresco released the "MMXVII" EP containing 7 songs produced by Soleternity. [30]

The High and Mighty Movie

During 2008-09, Soleternity and filmmaker Nick McGill collaborated to create "The High and Mighty"—an independent, semi-fictional movie about the unintended consequences resulting from criminal choices made by the film's lead character, Conner. [31]

The movie screened twice in front of sold out crowds on December 31, 2009, at Rockford, Illinois's Showplace 16 Theater. [32]

Education

In 2011, Soleternity enrolled at Rock Valley College. He graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in 2013. [38] He delivered the graduation ceremony's student commencement speech. [39]

In the fall of 2013, he enrolled at Yale University to complete his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. [40] He graduated in May 2016. [41]

<i>The Gates Mixed Plate</i> 2010 studio album by Tech N9ne

The Gates Mixed Plate is the tenth studio album by rapper Tech N9ne, which was released on July 27, 2010. It is the third album in the rapper's "Collabos" series, following the 2009 album Sickology 101. The album's name is in reference to the Kansas City Bar-B-Q restaurant Gates Bar-B-Q. The album's first single, "O.G." further references the restaurant.

<i>Seepage</i> (EP) 2010 EP by Tech N9ne

Seepage is the second EP by rapper Tech N9ne, and was released on October 25, 2010. The EP consists of five tracks that were written recently after Tech witnessed Krizz Kaliko's breakdown after receiving bad news, and soon after, receiving news that his mother was back in the psych ward. The beats that appear on the EP were purchased by the artist intended for his studio album K.O.D. but went unused during the sessions. The EP, just like K.O.D. and the Lost Scripts, is broken up into 3 sections: "Anger", "Madness" and "The Hole". When the instrumentals used in Seepage were slated for the K.O.D album, Tech N9ne intended for the track titled 'Alucard' to feature Immortal Technique on a track called 'Every Man For Himself.' Necro revealed on Twitter that Tech reached out to him for the track 'Asshole' but wasn't able to send out his verse on time. The EP sold 7,361 copies first week, of which 68% were digital. Seepage debuted at number 57 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on the Independent Albums charts in the US. The songs' title track featuring Tonesha Sanders peaked at #49 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart and #35 on the Rao Digital Songs chart.
