Soman Rana (16 January 1983) is an Indian para athlete from Meghalaya. He competes in men's shot put F57. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris, his second Olympics. [1] He is currently supported by OGQ.

Early life

Rana is from Shillong, Meghalaya. He is employed with the Indian Army as a Havaldar. He trains at Army Paralympic Node at BEG and Centre, Kirkee, Pune. He lost his right leg in a mine blast in December 2006. [2] [3]

Career

Rana finished fourth at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Earlier, he represented India at the Dubai 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in the men's shot put F56/57. [4] In 2021, he won a gold at the Tunis World Para Athletics Grand Prix. [3] He won a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, China. [5]

Tek Chand is an Indian Paralympic shot putter and javelin thrower. He was born in the Rewari district of Haryana, and was disabled due to a road accident. He represented India in the 2020 Paralympic Games held in Tokyo in the men's shot-put F55 category. He was made the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony, replacing the quarantined Mariyappan Thangavelu. He finished last out of eight competitiors in the event, managing a best of 9.04 metres. He was originally listed for the men's F54 javelin, but later relisted. He has won the bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Para games.

Palitha Bandara Halgahawela Gedara, also known as Palitha Bandara or Palitha Halgahawela, is a Sri Lankan para athlete who has specialized in discus throw and shot put. He is currently attached with Sri Lankan Army as an army corporal.

Simran Sharma is a visually-impaired para-athlete from Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh. She qualified to represent India in the 2024 Summer Paralympics and won a bronze medal in the Women's 200 m T12 final on 7 September 2024. In the Women's 100 m T12, she qualified first in her heat with a season's best of 12.33s but could only finish 4th in the finals despite a better time of 12.31 s.

Bhagyashree Jadhav is a para athlete from Maharashtra. She was part of the Indian para team for the 2022 Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, China. She won a silver medal in shot put F34 category. She threw a distance of 7.54 metres. She qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris, her second Paralympics. She is named as the flagbearer for India at the Paris Paralympics opening ceremony along with Sumit Antil.

Charlotte Bolton is a Canadian para-athletics athlete who competes in F41 throwing events. She has won a total of 29 medals at the World Dwarf Games and won bronze in discus at the 2023 Parapan American Games.

Abhishek Chamoli is an Indian para athlete from New Delhi. He competes in men's javelin throw F54 category. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris. However, he was dropped from the final list of participants for Paralympics at the last minute.
