Hokato Hotozhe Sema (born 24 December 1983) [1] is an Indian para-athlete from Nagaland and a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army. He competes in men's shot put F57 event. He represented India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris and won a bronze medal in the event. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Background

Sema was born in P. Vihoto in the Niuland district, Nagaland. He joined as a havildar in the Indian Army and was promoted as Naib Subedar with 9 Assam Regiment. [7] He lost his leg in 2002 during an operation at the Line of Control due to a landmine blast. Despite the emotional toll, he found a new purpose in his sport. [8] At 32, he started shotput and trained under coach Rakesh Rawat. [1] He is currently supported by Olympic Gold Quest, a sports NGO.

Career

Sema won the bronze medal in shotput F-56/57 category event at 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China. [9] He also won the bronze medal in shotput F-57 category at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris with a personal best throw of 14.65m. [5]

She took part in the recurve women's open competition and qualified for the Rio event at the final world qualifier in the Czech Republic in 2016. She qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France, her second Olympics.

Anita is an Indian para rower from Rajasthan. She qualified for the 2024 Summer Paralympics along with Narayana Konganapalle at the World Rowing Asian and Oceanian Olympic and Paralympic Qualification 2024. She won a silver medal in the PR3 mixed doubles sculls earlier, along with Narayana, at the 2022 Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, China.

Narayana Konganapalle is an Indian para rower from Andhra Pradesh. He qualified for the 2024 Summer Paralympics along with Anita in at the World Rowing Asian and Oceanian Olympic and Paralympic Qualification 2024. Earlier, he won a silver medal in PR3 mixed doubles sculls along with Anita at the 2022 Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, China.

Sarita Adhana is an Indian paralympic archer. She qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris in the women's Individual compound event of Archery competitions. She lost in the quarterfinals at Paris Paralympics.

Abhishek Chamoli is an Indian para athlete from New Delhi. He competes in men's javelin throw F54 category. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris. However, he was dropped from the final list of participants for Paralympics at the last minute.

Nihal Singh is an Indian para shooter from Rajasthan. He competes in the P3 25m pistol individual event in SH1 category. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris. Despite his quota berth in 50m pistol event being surrendered due to new limitation of quotas per country in each category, he made it to the Paralympics in the P3 25 m pistol SH1 event and also played the mixed event. He finished 10th with a score of 569 in the qualification round and missed the finals. In the P4 50 m pistol SH1 event, he scored 522 and finished 19th in the qualification round.
