Despite the anticipation before the release, the album failed to catch the success of their debut album, possibly due to the lack of a hit single. Following the disappointing sales of the album, Trapt was dropped by Warner Bros. Records.

AllMusic's Johnny Loftus saw promise in the band's sophomore record elevating their 21st century SoCal proto-metal template with tracks like "Disconnected (Out of Touch)", "Waiting" and "Influence", saying they "succeed at constricting that sound, building some internal tension that gives Trapt some life outside their formula." [2] Tom Beaujour of Blender found Chris Taylor Brown's vocals "overwrought" throughout the track listing and backhandedly complimented his bandmates' "preternatural command" of radio-ready nu-metal, concluding that "So even if Brown isn't exaggerating when he claims, "I'm always questioning my sanity," at least he won't have any trouble paying for a good shrink." A year after their fourth studio album Borders & Boundaries (2000), the band had spent sometime at their practice space writing new material; by the middle of 2002, the band said their next album would be with Warner Bros. With Latham being an exacting producer, and lead vocalist Ian McCulloch receiving star treatment and drinking heavily, the recording was more difficult than the band had initially hoped. The album made more use of keyboards than their previous studio albums, which had been string-heavy. Three singles were issued: "The Game", "Lips Like Sugar" and "Bedbugs and Ballyhoo".
Back on the Right Track is a studio album by Sly and the Family Stone, released by Warner Bros. Records in 1979. The album was, as its title alludes to, an overt comeback attempt for Sly Stone.
