Sonic the Hedgehog 2:Music from the Motion Picture is the score album for the 2022 film of the same name. The score,which was composed by Tom Holkenborg,was released on April 8,2022,by Paramount Music in both digital and physical formats.
In December 2021,Tom Holkenborg,who also composed Sonic the Hedgehog (2020),was announced to be returning to compose the score of its sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 . [1] The film was supported by a single titled "Stars in the Sky",the only original song recorded for the film,by Kid Cudi. [2] The soundtrack was released on digital platforms by Paramount Music on April 8,2022,the same day as the film's United States release. [3] [4] La-La Land Records also released a limited edition CD of the album in April 2022,and Enjoy the Ride Records released a limited edition cassette tape in August 2022. [4] [5]
Calling it as a highly enjoyable orchestral ride from start to finish,Zanobard Reviews assigned a 7 out of 10 rating and wrote "Though the orchestral style featured throughout Sonic 2 is still very entertaining,with the way it utilises both established and brand new themes as well as both elevating the tension and enjoyability throughout its many edge-of-your-seat action setpieces being pretty sublime. In essence then;while not perfect,it’s another solid score from Holkenborg." [6] Roberto Nieves of Marooners' Rock thought the score was strong overall,though he criticized it for not incorporating music from the Sonic games. [7]
Michael Guterres of Comic Book Resources called the scores from both the film and its predecessor "forgettable and unremarkable" stating that they paled in comparison to the music and melodies from the games as well as Holkeborg's prior work. [8] Christian Clemmensen of Filmtracks gave the album a 2 out of 5 star rating,criticizing the score for sounding cheap and generic,and for being weaker than that of the first film. He concluded his review by stating,"A 57-minute score-only album contains none of the outright parody music or songs,and listeners will note that no single cue embodies the enthusiasm and attraction of the suite that concluded the prior score's album." [9]

The film was supported by a single titled "Stars in the Sky" by American musician Kid Cudi, which is featured during one of the opening scenes and in the end credits sequence. [10] [11] In April 2022, it was announced that "Up on the Green Hill from Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone - Masado and Miwasco Version -" by Dreams Come True would be used as the main theme song for the film's release in Japan. The song is the English version of the band's 2021 single "Tsugi no Se~no! De - On the Green Hill -," a vocal version of the theme music of Green Hill Zone from the original game. [12] [13]

Tom Holkenborg, also known as Junkie XL, is a Dutch composer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ, producer, and engineer. Originally known for his trance productions, he has moved to producing electronica and big beat music and film scores. His remix of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" became a worldwide hit in 2002.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the soundtrack album to the 2018 film of the same name directed by Ron Howard, which is the second instalment in the Star Wars anthology series. The score is composed by John Powell, with the Han Solo's theme conducted and composed by John Williams, whom he had collaborated for several Star Wars films, was included in the album. Williams further composed several demos, that were not included in the soundtrack but was released in the deluxe edition. Scoob! The Album and Scoob! are the soundtracks for the 2020 animated film Scoob!. A second album titled Xperiments From Dark Phoenix released in that August, containing unreleased music from the film, which garnered generally favorable response.

Prey (Original Soundtrack) is the score album to the 2022 film of the same name directed by Dan Trachtenberg, which is the fifth instalment of the Predator franchise and a prequel to the first four films. The original score is composed by Sarah Schachner, the fourth composer to score for the franchise. Unlike the previous films, the score does not refer Alan Silvestri's themes from the first film, but featured new original themes created and curated for the film, focusing the principal character Naru (Amber Midthunder) and her emotional story and evolution. Several ancient string instruments have been used in the score, as the film is set during the 18th century America, while the score also featured Pueblo musician and flautist Robert Mirabal.

The score was recorded during October 2017 to July 2018 at the Michael Fowler Centre concert hall with New Zealand Symphony Orchestra performing the score and mixed at Park Road Post in New Zealand. The score blends and overlays modern electronic and synth-based score with orchestra. The album was released by Back Lot Music on December 14, 2018.
