Sonny Styles (born November 24, 2004) is an American college football linebacker for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Early life

Styles attended Pickerington Central High School in Pickerington, Ohio, where he notched 88 tackles with one going for a loss, a sack, two pass deflections, six interceptions, and a forced fumble in his career. [1] On August 30, 2020, in a televised game against rival Pickerington High School North, he had nine tackles, an interception and blocked a punt. [2] Styles also teamed with Devin Royal to help the basketball team win the 2022 OHSAA Division I state championship. He was rated a five-star recruit and committed to play college football at Ohio State University over other schools such as Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss. [3]

College career

As a freshman, Styles notched nine tackles with one going for a loss. [4] He was named a starting safety for the Buckeyes ahead of the 2023 season. [5] In his first start, Styles played 49 snaps where he had four tackles with 1.5 being for a loss, as he helped Ohio State beat Indiana. [6] Styles was converted to a linebacker.

Personal life

His dad is former NFL linebacker Lorenzo Styles, and his brother is Ohio State cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. [7] [8]
