Soul in the Hole is the soundtrack album to the 1997 film of the same name. It was released through Loud Records on July 29, 1997. [3] It peaked at number 73 on the Billboard 200 chart [4] and number 13 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. [5] The track "You Ain't A Killer" later appeared on Big Pun's album Capital Punishment.

In 2012, Complex placed it at number 20 on the "25 Best Hip-Hop Movie Soundtracks of All Time" list. [3]

Vol. 1 of the album was originally released through Death Row Records in January 1997, but was taken off the market a week after its release due to legal problems at Death Row Records. It was then rereleased as a two volume set by Breakaway Entertainment in the summer of 1998. The first volume was recorded during his tenure at Death Row Records, while the second volume was recorded after. The album only managed to make it to number 58 on the Billboard 200 and number 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album did produce four singles with two top 40 singles, however, "Never Leave Me Alone", which was released on October 22, 1996, through Death Row Records and peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.

American singer Keyshia Cole has released seven studio albums, one extended play, two mixtapes, 24 singles and 31 music videos. Cole's debut single, "Never", peaked at number 71 on the United States Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and became Cole's first entry on a national record chart. Soul Food is the soundtrack to the 1997 film of the same name. It was released on September 16, 1997, through LaFace Records and mainly consisted of R&B music with some hip hop music. The soundtrack was a success, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and was certified double Multi-Platinum on February 17, 1998. Four singles charted on the Billboard Hot 100: "I Care 'Bout You", "What About Us?" by Total, "We're Not Making Love No More" by Dru Hill, and "A Song for Mama" by Boyz II Men, the latter of which was a number 1 R&B single. The soundtrack was also noted for the fictional quintet group Milestone, consisting of K-Ci & JoJo, Babyface and his brothers, Kevon and Melvin Edmonds, who all came together once for their single and cameo appearance in the film.

Music From "Mo' Better Blues" is a collaborative album by Branford Marsalis Quartet and Terence Blanchard. It was released in 1990 through Columbia/CBS Records as a soundtrack to Spike Lee's 1990 film Mo' Better Blues. Recording sessions took place at RCA Studios and Sound On Sound in New York. Production was handled by Bill Lee, Delfeayo Marsalis, Raymond Jones and DJ Premier, with Spike Lee serving as executive producer. It features contributions from film stars Cynda Williams, Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes, and American hip hop duo Gang Starr.
