South Slocan is an unincorporated community on the Kootenay River in British Columbia, Canada.
The Kootenay is a major river in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, and northern Montana and Idaho in the United States. It is one of the uppermost major tributaries of the Columbia River, the largest North American river that empties into the Pacific Ocean. The Kootenay River runs 781 kilometres (485 mi) from its headwaters in the Kootenay Ranges of the Canadian Rockies, flowing from British Columbia's East Kootenay region into northwestern Montana, then west into the northernmost Idaho Panhandle and returning to British Columbia in the West Kootenay region, where it joins the Columbia at Castlegar.

Summit Lake Provincial Park is located on Highway 6, 13 km southwest of Nakusp at the height of land between Slocan Lake and Upper Arrow Lake. The Nakusp Range of the Selkirk Mountains rises 500 metres above the lake, providing a magnificent backdrop to the many recreational opportunities provided by the park.
Park visitors can enjoy fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout or swimming in the lake's clear, refreshing mountain water. Mountain Goats can often be viewed on rocky outcroppings and each fall a natural spectacle occurs as thousands of toads emerge from the lake and migrate to the nearby forest to hibernate for the winter.
Winlaw is a small unincorporated community, located in the Slocan Valley region of the West Kootenay area in southeastern British Columbia, Canada. The town of Winlaw originally centered on a lumber mill that once stood where Winlaw Elementary School is. Winlaw was named after John Brown Winlaw who also pioneered in Wynndel and was the owner of the local lumber mill. In the late 19th century he took the train to the end of the rail line and founded the mill.

Summit Lake Ski Area is a small community-operated ski hill located at the lake and community of the same name, 16km east of Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada, in that province's Arrow Lakes-Slocan region. The hill, located at the east end of the lake adjacent to BC Hwy 6 has a T-Bar and rope tow and a daylodge with cafeteria with rentals and lessons. The area features night skiing, snowboarding, a halfpipe, a 1km cross-country ski trail, and a terrain park for summer use.

The Kokanee Range is a subrange of the Selkirk Mountains in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada. It is located between the valley of the Slocan River (W) and that of Kootenay Lake (E), and to the north of the Kootenay River and the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. The range includes Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, Kokanee Peak, and Grays Peak, notable as the mountain featured on the label of Kokanee beer. The name "Kokanee" refers to a land-locked variety of Sockeye salmon.
Zincton is a ghost town located in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. The town was located near Sandon, East of Slocan Lake. The town of Zincton was built to support the mining efforts in the area. Zincton was founded around 1892. The ore predominantly found in the area was zinc. Zinc was an unwanted metal at that time. Much of the ore was shipped to the Pilot Bay smelter. Zincton was destroyed by a forest fire in 1910. In 1927 the Victoria Syndicate had acquired claims in the area and rebuilt the town. The Kaslo and Slocan Railway line passed through Zincton. Zincton was the largest producer of Zinc in the Slocan area. The ore body was eventually depleted, and today Zincton is deserted.
Appledale is an unincorporated community in the Slocan Valley region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada, located on the west bank of the Slocan River, just north of Winlaw.
Lemon Creek is an unincorporated community in the Slocan Valley region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada. Its name is derived from that of the creek of the same name, which was named for Robert Lemon, a prominent merchant in pre-Great War Nelson. It is a few miles south of Slocan City which is at the south end of Slocan Lake.
The Brilliant Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Kootenay River near Castlegar, British Columbia. It was built in 1913 by Doukhobors settled in the area to replace a ferry across the river. In 1966 the new Highway 3A bridge replaced this one and it was abandoned. Restoration began in the early 1990s, and the bridge was declared a national historic site in 1995. It reopened as a footbridge in 2010.
