Sown in Weakness, Raised in Power, also referred to as Sown in Weakness, is the debut and only full-length album by Christian metallic hardcore band Mindrage. It is the last release to feature Society's Finest drummer Chad Wilburn.

Word Press writes: "Anyway, this being a review of Mindrage's Sown In Weakness, Raised In Power disc, let me make one thing perfectly clear- while this little band may have sprung from former members of the (*sigh*) metalcore band Living Sacrifice (don't get me started...), Mindrage's sound has more to do with Prong, later-day Sepultura, and Pantera than true metalcore bands. This has a distinctive metal groove that crushes, with a light yet very distinctive Hardcore attitude that smashes. The vocals remind me much of Prong in their Cleansing days, really. While there's a couple of instances where the comparison to Living Sacrifice is evident (like the acoustic intro to opener "Not Alone", and "Asphyxiate", which sounds like it had its origins in the Reborn sessions), they're few and far between. Overall, a very nice, heavy, groove-laden piece of metal for ye'all..." [2] John Sant of "Exit Zine.com" writes: "The album definitely has its moments, but not nearly enough of them. They'll play with an awesome riff but then never really follow it up, forgetting it and going back to whatever chugga-chugga riff they were doing before. All in all, I do enjoy this album. I don't regret the purchase, but I can think of a couple other CDs I would have rather bought in place of this. " [1]

Thrash metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo. The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead guitar work. The lyrical subject matter often includes criticism of The Establishment and concern over environmental destruction, and at times shares a disdain for Christian dogma with that of black metal. The language is typically direct and denunciatory, an approach borrowed from hardcore punk.
Beg to Differ is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Prong, released in 1990 through Epic Records. The album includes one live track recorded at CBGB's in New York City in 1989. Brian "Pushead" Schroeder did the design and cover artwork for the album. Part of the song "Lost and Found" was used for commercial breaks of MTV's Headbangers Ball in the early 1990s.
Cleansing is the fourth album by the American heavy metal band Prong, released on January 25, 1994 by Epic Records. It was produced by Terry Date, whereas Prong's previous two albums had been produced by Mark Dodson. Earth Crisis is an American hardcore punk band from Syracuse, New York, active from 1989 until 2001, reuniting in 2007. Since 1993 the band's longest serving members are vocalist Karl Buechner, lead guitarist Scott Crouse, bassist Ian Edwards and drummer Dennis Merrick. Their third and current rhythm guitarist Erick Edwards joined the band in 1998.
Melodic death metal is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal. The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Many American heavy metal bands emulated At the Gates' sound, resulting in the usage of the phrase "At the Gates worship".
Extreme metal is a loosely defined umbrella term for a number of related heavy metal music subgenres that have developed since the early 1980s. It has been defined as a "cluster of metal subgenres characterized by sonic, verbal, and visual transgression".
Metalcore is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Shai Hulud is an American metalcore band formed in Pompano Beach, Florida, in 1995, and later based in Poughkeepsie, New York. The band is named after the giant sandworms in Frank Herbert's novel Dune.
John Charles LeCompt is an American guitarist and vocalist who has been part of the Little Rock metal music since the mid-1990s. He played rhythm guitar for the rock band Evanescence from 2003 to 2007. One of LeCompt's main collaborators is long-time friend musician Rocky Gray. They both are members of the rock bands Machina and We Are the Fallen.
Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore breakdowns. The Silent Circus is the second studio album by American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. Released October 21, 2003, through Victory Records. It was their first album to be released through Victory Records after their departure from Lifeforce Records. It was re-released in 2006 with a bonus DVD included. The album includes 10 tracks with a hidden song titled "The Man Land" hidden at the end of "The Need for Repetition". It is notable for being the band's only album not to be produced by Jamie King. The album was remixed and remastered in 2020.
Melodic metalcore is a fusion genre, incorporating elements of melodic death metal and metalcore; it has a heavy emphasis on melodic instrumentation, distorted guitar tones, palm muting, double bass drumming, blast beats, metalcore-stylized breakdowns, aggressive screaming, death growls, and clean singing. The genre has seen commercial success for employing a more accessible sound at times compared to other forms of extreme music. Many notable melodic metalcore bands have been influenced by At the Gates and In Flames.
Society's Finest is an American metalcore band from Dallas, Texas. Their first full-length album, The Journey...So Far, was released on Solid State Records in May 2000. Due to member changes and personal matters the band took a break from touring and recording to focus on their personal lives. During this hiatus, vocalist Josh Ashworth toured with the metalcore band Zao.
Mindrage was an American Christian metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas. The band was compared to Living Sacrifice and Soulfly in a review with another fellow Christian metal band Nailed Promise, who Mindrage did a split with. In 2002, the band broke up. Vocalist John LeCompt went on to join Evanescence in 2003. Before forming Mindrage, original drummer Chad Wilburn formed Society's Finest. Second drummer Justin Carder later joined Machina, a band that LeCompt was also in.
Beatdown hardcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk with prominent elements of heavy metal. Beatdown hardcore features aggressive vocals, down-tuned electric guitars, gang vocals, heavy guitar riffs, and heavy breakdowns. The genre emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s with bands such as Killing Time, Madball, and Sheer Terror. In the mid-late 1990s and early 2000s, many other beatdown bands emerged, such as Hatebreed, Bulldoze, Shai Hulud, and Strife. Bands such as Terror and Death Before Dishonor gained cult followings in the mid–late 2000s. New York hardcore bands such as Agnostic Front, Warzone, Sick of It All, and Cro-Mags and the thrash metal subgenre crossover thrash paved the way for beatdown.

They are known for their chaotic live shows and signed to Southern Lord Records in 2018 with the release of their debut Only Self. They have since toured with acts such as Code Orange, Knocked Loose, and Ghostemane.
