Trouser Press called the album "a locomotive blur of abrasive pop and gnarly guitar psychosis." [6] Spin wrote that "some tracks rock out a la Black Sabbath, some slam your head against the wall courtesy of blazing hardcore, and some make your stomach sick with wimpy pop." [7]
Sonic Youth was an American rock band based in New York City and formed in 1981. Founding members Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo remained together for the entire history of the band, while Steve Shelley (drums) followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, rounding out the core line-up. Jim O'Rourke was also a member of the band from 1999 to 2005, and Mark Ibold was a member from 2006 to 2011.
Psychic Hearts is the debut solo studio album by former Sonic Youth member Thurston Moore, released in 1995 through Geffen Records. The album was remastered and reissued in 2006. The two-record vinyl version of the reissue contains bonus tracks on the fourth album side where on the original vinyl release the fourth side had a drawing by cover artist Rita Ackermann etched directly into the vinyl.
Teenage Fanclub are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Glasgow in 1989. The group were founded by Norman Blake, Raymond McGinley and Gerard Love, all of whom shared lead vocals and songwriting duties until Love's departure in 2018. As of 2023, the band's lineup consists of Blake, McGinley, Francis Macdonald, Dave McGowan and Euros Childs.

Small Factory was an American indie rock band formed in 1991 and based in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. The group was well regarded as an exemplar of 1990s indie rock although they never achieved great success or influence. Especially noted for the exuberance and charming banter of their live shows. The band broke up in 1995, and Dave Auchenbach formed Flora Street, while the other two members continued working together as The Godrays. Phoebe Summersquash later voiced a character on the TV series Downtown, and in 2005 appeared in Sarah Silverman's film "Jesus Is Magic." Alex Kemp moved to Chicago and formed the band Assassins with Joe Cassidy, Aaron Miller, Merritt Lear and David Golitko. After signing with the major label Arista, the album was subsequently never released as the label's president L.A. Reid was fired and the holding company, BMG, briefly closed the company.
The original soundtrack of the 1994 film Backbeat, also called Backbeat, stars Stephen Dorff, Sheryl Lee, Gary Bakewell and Ian Hart. The music was produced by Don Was. A score based album with Don Was' original music was also released. Recording sessions for the album started on March 26, 1993 at Ocean Way Recording, in Los Angeles, California. Many of the songs on the album were first takes. Don Was stated in an interview with Variety, that "the makeshift band recorded 15 songs in three days with virtually no overdubs and no more than two takes. “The self-imposed deadline was one of the devices that I used to keep it raw and spontaneous, so we wouldn’t scrutinize too much,” Was said. “Because at that stage the Beatles were a wild teenage band that compensated for their lack of finesse with a tremendous amount of energy". The promotional video for "Please Mr. Postman" was filmed in Germany, in March, 1994, for the UK promo single, which was released on May 3, 1994.
The Sound of Sunbathing is the debut album from The Sinceros, a new wave and power pop band from England. The album, with initial copies pressed on orange vinyl, was released worldwide and achieved moderate commercial success. This is the only album so far released on CD, the follow-up being Pet Rock. The Sunbathing CD was released on 18 May 2009 with the catalogue number CDM RED 396. One track from this album, "Take Me to Your Leader", has appeared on the compilation albums New Wave Hits of the 70's & 80's and Big Hits, Skinny Ties: New Wave in the U.K.
God Knows It's True is an EP by Scottish rock band Teenage Fanclub, released in 1990 in the UK by Paperhouse Records and in 1991 in the USA by Matador Records. It was co-produced by Don Fleming, who had been introduced to the band earlier in 1990 by word of mouth, and who would also work on the band's next two albums, The King and Bandwagonesque.
