Special Kiss is the first album by Gumball. [3] It was released in 1991 on the Primo Scree label. It contains contributions from Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and Teenage Fanclub. [4]
Trouser Press called the album "a locomotive blur of abrasive pop and gnarly guitar psychosis." [5] Spin wrote that "some tracks rock out a la Black Sabbath, some slam your head against the wall courtesy of blazing hardcore, and some make your stomach sick with wimpy pop." [6]
Teenage Fanclub are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Bellshill near Glasgow in 1989. The group were founded by Norman Blake, Raymond McGinley and Gerard Love, all of whom shared lead vocals and songwriting duties until Love's departure in 2018. As of 2019, the band's lineup consists of Blake, McGinley, Francis Macdonald, Dave McGowan and Euros Childs.

The original soundtrack of the 1994 film Backbeat, also called Backbeat, stars Stephen Dorff, Sheryl Lee, Gary Bakewell and Ian Hart. The music was produced by Don Was. A score based album with Don Was' original music was also released. Recording sessions for the album started on March 26, 1993 at Ocean Way Recording, in Los Angeles, California. Many of the songs on the album were first takes. Don Was stated in an interview with Variety, that "the makeshift band recorded 15 songs in three days with virtually no overdubs and no more than two takes. “The self-imposed deadline was one of the devices that I used to keep it raw and spontaneous, so we wouldn’t scrutinize too much,” Was said. “Because at that stage the Beatles were a wild teenage band that compensated for their lack of finesse with a tremendous amount of energy". The promotional video for "Please Mr. Postman" was filmed in Germany, in March, 1994, for the UK promo single, which was released on May 3, 1994.
The Sound of Sunbathing is the debut album from The Sinceros, a new wave and power pop band from England. The album, with initial copies pressed on orange vinyl, was released worldwide and achieved moderate commercial success. This is the only album so far released on CD, the follow-up being Pet Rock. The Sunbathing CD was released on 18 May 2009 with the catalogue number CDM RED 396. One track from this album, "Take Me to Your Leader", has appeared on the compilation albums New Wave Hits of the 70's & 80's and Big Hits, Skinny Ties: New Wave in the U.K.
