Spirit Young Performers Company is an organisation offering performing arts classes, based in London, notable for producing original musical numbers and releasing them online to YouTube to millions of online viewers. New performance videos are uploaded every week. The company was created in 2013 by Sophie Boyce and uses multi-camera crews to showcase its students performing. [1]

Among the students at Spirit Young Performers Company are young cast members from West End's Matilda the Musical , Billy Elliot the Musical , School of Rock (musical) and Les Misérables . The company has produced work with Olivier-Award-Winners Cleo Demetriou, [2] Sophia Kiely [3] and Kerry Ingram, [4] as well as other notable young performers and child stars such as Lara Wollington, Adrianna Bertola, Sezen Djouma, Kerry Ingram and Chloe Hawthorn. Students have also gone on to work in films and Netflix Series. [5]

Notable public performances by Spirit YPC include supporting Andrea Bocelli as his children's choir at the O2 Arena, performing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins on the ITV television show Keep it in the Family in 2015, [6] performing a medley from Bring It On the Musical at West End Live in Trafalgar Square, [7] and appearing in 'Magic at the Musicals' at the Royal Albert Hall, which was also broadcast on Magic Radio. [8] Other performances include the Royal National Theatre Gala, the Hackney Empire, [9] and the Main Stage at MOVE IT.

In 2019, Spirit contributed to the London School Strike for Climate with a live performance of their original song #Emergency, written by Sophie Boyce and Fred Feeney. [10]

Performances by Spirit YPC have been publicly recognised by West End and Broadway social media channels, including those of Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Waitress (musical) and Come From Away. [11] In 2020, Spirit's Hamilton Medley was aired on Disney Plus as part of their Hamilton (musical) special.

Kerry Jane Ellis is an English actress and singer who is best known for her work in musical theatre and subsequent crossover into music. Born and raised in Suffolk, Ellis began performing at an early age before training at Laine Theatre Arts from the age of 16.

Brett Domino British musician

Brett Domino is the alter-ego of British musician and comedian Rob J Madin. As Brett Domino, he is a musician and internet celebrity from Leeds, although Madin is actually from Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He is best known for his YouTube videos, in which he plays covers and original songs on various musical instruments, most notably the keytar. His band, The Brett Domino Trio, currently consists of only two members, Domino and "Steven Peavis", having only been a three-piece for around a year. "Mitch Hutchinson" left the band in 2009, allegedly to become a forklift truck driver; he later returned to celebrate the band's fifth anniversary and appear on the finale of Brett Domino's Weekly YouTube Thing.

<i>Matilda the Musical</i> 2011 musical

Matilda the Musical is a musical based on the 1988 children's novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. It was adapted by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed for the stage by Matthew Warchus. The musical's narrative centres on Matilda, a precocious 5-year-old girl with the gift of telekinesis, who loves reading, overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school, and helps her teacher to reclaim her life. After a twelve-week trial run staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) at Stratford-upon-Avon from November 2010 to January 2011, it received its West End premiere on 24 November 2011 at the Cambridge Theatre and its Broadway premiere on 11 April 2013 at the Shubert Theatre.

It features singles from all her studio albums: Read My Lips (2001), Shoot from the Hip (2003), Trip the Light Fantastic (2007), Make a Scene (2011), Wanderlust (2014) and Familia (2016), as well as a number of cover versions of songs by other artists. Songs from the Kitchen Disco serves as the follow up to her previous release, the 2019 orchestral compilation album The Song Diaries.
