St. Ambrose Catholic Church is parish of the Roman Catholic Church located at 3107 63rd Ave in Cheverly, Maryland, in the Archdiocese of Washington.
The area was first part of the parish of St. Mary of the Mills in Laurel, then transferred to the parish of Saint Jerome in Hyattsville. In 1886, a small mission chapel was built on property donated by the Wilson family in Landover, Maryland. This chapel remained in use until 1960, when demolished to make way for the John Hanson Highway. [1]
The community was erected as an independent parish in 1948, and the parish settled in its present location in 1950 with the opening of a Saint Ambrose Catholic School at 6310 Jason St. and a convent located across Jason St. Mass was held in the school gymnasium until the parish church was later built in 1961. A rectory was later built next door to the church on 63rd Ave.
St. Ambrose Church features several groups including the Ladies of Charity, the Men's Club, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and several choirs that sing at mass each week.
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also called the Baltimore Basilica, was the first Roman Catholic cathedral built in the United States, and was among the first major religious buildings constructed in the nation after the adoption of the U.S. Constitution. As a co-cathedral, it is one of the seats of the Catholic Archdiocese in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally it is a parish church and national shrine. It is considered the masterpiece of Benjamin Henry Latrobe, the "Father of American Architecture".
San Margherita is an unincorporated neighborhood directly west of Columbus, Ohio, half falling into Norwich Township and the other half in Franklin Township. The area was settled in the early 20th century by Italian immigrants working for the Marble Cliff Quarry Company. Though once a robust and rural community, San Margherita is in danger of vanishing. Many of the original homes and locally owned businesses in the neighborhood have been demolished.

Monsignor Ambrose J. Burke was an English professor and Catholic priest who served as the eighth president of Saint Ambrose University from 1940 through 1956. A native of Iowa, he attended the college's high school program, and then the college itself, but was expelled from the seminary for a year and a half by the school's administrator for planning an evening of carousing. He eventually acquired a master's degree and a doctorate in English from Yale University and returned to St. Ambrose in 1921 as an instructor. He was appointed the school's president in 1940 and served for sixteen years, then the longest tenure of any St. Ambrose president. He worked as a pastor and a chaplain for many decades after and remained active until shortly before his death in October 1998, at the age of 102.
Holy Family Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Davenport. The parish is the result of a merger between Saints Mary and Joseph Parish and Sacred Heart Parish in the city of Fort Madison, Iowa, United States. St. Mary of the Assumption Church, which became Saints Mary and Joseph, is located at 11th Street and Avenue E. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The parish's origins date to 1837, when it was first named Holy Cross parish. In 1850 it was renamed Saint John the Evangelist parish, and is the oldest Catholic parish in the city and in Marion County, Indiana. Considered the mother of the Catholic parishes in Indianapolis, it played an important role in development of the Catholic Church in the city. Saint John's Church served as the pro-cathedral of the diocese from 1878 until 1906; its rectory served as the bishop's residence and chancery from 1878 until 1892. In 1900 the church served as the site of first episcopal consecration held in Indianapolis.
St. Joseph Catholic Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chicago. The church is located in Wilmette, Illinois, United States, at the corner of Lake Ave and Ridge Road. It is listed on the Wilmette Register of Historic Properties and on the National Register of Historic Places. It was founded in 1845 by Chicago's first Catholic bishop, William Quarter as the "Log Cabin Mission" and served German Catholic immigrants from Trier, Germany. The first assigned priest was G.H. Plathe. Fr. William Netstraeter, would serve the parish for five decades beginning in 1872, as well as become a Wilmette trustee and help found New Trier High School. In 1873, the church opened a school, taught by nuns from Milwaukee's School Sisters of St. Francis from 1877 until 1981; the Archdiocese of Chicago closed the school in 1986, but parish families reopened it a decade later.

The St. Joseph's Church Complex is a collection of historic buildings located in Fort Madison, Iowa, United States. At one time the complex housed a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Davenport. St. Joseph and St. Mary of the Assumption parishes merged in the 1990s to form Saints Mary and Joseph Parish. In 2007 when that parish merged with Sacred Heart on the west side to form Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph's Church was closed. The former church, chapel, rectory, convent, and school were included as contributing properties in the Park-to-Park Residential Historic District that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
Saint Stephen Martyr Catholic Church is a Catholic parish church located at 2436 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., in the United States. The parish was founded on August 4, 1867, and the first church building consecrated and used for worship on December 27, 1868. This brick structure closed on July 15, 1959, and the current new building was consecrated and first used for worship on June 11, 1961. The church was a favorite of President John F. Kennedy.
