The Diocese of Bridgeport is a suffragan diocese within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Hartford.

He designed every 19th-century Catholic cathedral in New England. Several other church and institutional architects began their careers in his firm.

The parish celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019, having been founded in 1869 under the leadership of Bishop James Frederick Wood. Twenty-five years earlier, two Catholic parishes within about a mile of the church—St. Augustine Church, Philadelphia at 4th and Vine and St. Michael at 2nd and Jefferson—were burnt to the ground in violent anti-Catholic nativist riots. The church continued as an independent parish or as a worship site for almost 150 years until, in the fall of 2019, it was announced that the church building would be closed permanently.

Saint Anne/Immaculate Conception Parish is a former Roman Catholic parish in Hartford, CT. It was closed in 2017 as part of a major restructuring within the Archdiocese of Hartford. The parish was established in 2000, from the consolidation of the former Saint Anne Parish and Immaculate Conception Parish, both of which were located in the Frog Hollow neighborhood. The consolidated parish occupied the former Saint Anne Church building; the Immaculate Conception building is now operated as a homeless shelter. In 2017, the parish was further consolidated into St. Augustine Parish, and the Saint Anne church building subsequently closed.
