Saint Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church is located at 407 Northland Ave, in Buffalo, New York. The Italian Romanesque Revival style church previously served as a parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. The church was closed by the Roman Catholic Diocese in 1993. The church is a Buffalo landmark.
This Church was the third to the parish, and was built in response to demand for a larger place of worship. The interior of the church contains a number of mosaics along the wall surfaces. [1] The exterior of the church was built of Indiana limestone, with no structural steel being used in the construction of the building's shell. The church is topped with a Mediterranean tile roof. [2]
While operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, the church contained a Teller-Kent organ.
After closing the church, the parish was merged with St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Shortly after, the church building was sold to the Terbernacle Baptist Church. After occupying the building for nearly 10 years, the building fell into disrepair and was abandoned. In 2003, the church was purchased at auction by the Reverend Perry Davis, after having been flipped several times and pillaged. [3] The building itself is deteriorating. The stained-glass windows have been removed and there are areas of roof damage. The old school has been razed. The adjacent rectory is now privately owned. [4]
Sacred Heart Cathedral, located in Davenport, Iowa, United States, is a Catholic cathedral and a parish church in the Diocese of Davenport. The cathedral is located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River to the east of Downtown Davenport. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cathedral Complex. Saint Raphael's Cathedral is the cathedral and a parish for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Madison and was located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin at 222 West Main Street. In March 2005, the Cathedral building located at 204 West Main Street was heavily damaged in a fire and was demolished. In late 2012, the diocese constructed a park on the site, called Cathedral Square or Cathedral Place featuring a Way of the Cross. In 2023, it was announced that St. Bernard's Church in Madison would be named the new cathedral rather than build a new cathedral at the St. Raphael site.

He was a prolific designer of nearly 600 churches and hundreds of other institutional buildings for the Roman Catholic Church or Roman Catholic patrons in the eastern United States and Canada, particularly in New York City, Boston and Chicago in the later half of the 19th century. He designed every 19th-century Catholic cathedral in New England. Several other church and institutional architects began their careers in his firm.

A rare and special designation bestowed on the parish occurred in 1907, when the Vatican proclaimed St. Adalbert a basilica, the first in the USA. The proclamation, as well as its English translation, can be viewed to this day in the basilica's museum room.
