The Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose members are commonly known as the Loreto Sisters, is a Roman Catholic religious congregation of women dedicated to education founded in Saint-Omer by an Englishwoman, Mary Ward, in 1609. The congregation takes its name from the Marian shrine at Loreto in Italy where Ward used to pray. Ward was declared Venerable by Pope Benedict XVI on 19 December 2009. The Loreto Sisters use the initials I.B.V.M. after their names.

The school also housed the K-8 grammar school, St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School. The elementary school consisted of the first floor and 3 classrooms on the second floor until its closure in June 2009.

Richard Chung, O.S.B. (1951-1992), was an American Benedictine monk, priest and schoolteacher, best known for his suicide after the launching of a police investigation into Chung's possible sexual abuse of a boy at Catholic high school in Colorado Springs. Chung was further implicated in sexual misconduct in a 2004 civil lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pueblo and the Benedictine Order by a man claiming to have been abused by Chung at a Benedictine-run boarding school in Cañon City, Colorado during 1982.
